We do all the mot’s for Ferrari mate as they’re on the same site, and also part of the same group I work for. It arrived on a trailer and left on a trailer. Lol! We get to see some earlier classic rarri’s as well.
Thought I’d share some pics I got of a F40 that we had in the workshop this week. Was only in for an mot, but had a good nosey around it!
For me, this is the automotive equivalent of the holy grail. All £1.1m quids worth!
They have already been worded up on the issue, so I don’t see it being an issue - all assuming it is what I’m saying it is of course. ??
I made the call on Friday afternoon. ?
Lol yeah but not this quick!!
I’m going with one of the following items as a potential failure:
1) clutch
2) driveshaft
3) stripped teeth off a gear/gears.
I made the enquiry when @Rystar sent me the box and they were no longer available from Renault.
I’m as interested to see what’s happened with this gearbox as everyone else as this is the only one I’ve had fail.
The smaller gear is the one that needs the low profile pulled on it mate, and is the one that you can chip the teeth off. Lol! It’s quite tight on the shaft. The other gear with the synchro ring on is the easier of the 2, so looks can be deceiving.
Regards the wear on teeth etc, if it’s...
You can get the gear off, but I’d imagine you’ll chip the teeth on 5th. Got one in currently that’s had the same treatment!!
Definitely options for changing 5th gear, but I’d need to look at ratios.
All depends on the crank you’re using. If it’s the standard ph2 172 item, I wouldn’t waste your money. They’re s**t and flex far too much. Only cranks worth bothering with are the ph1 crank and the 197 crank. Anything else is better off being used as a door stop.
I used to run switchable boost using a ford amal valve, and I used to switch that whilst driving, so I would assume that, yes, you’d be ok to switch the boost as you’re driving. Ultimately, it’s been mapped to run the full boost, so it will make no difference to the ecu imo.
Loads of different magic tricks mate that zee churmans have changed. Egr valve operation is a common change in most updates, but stuff like dsc, pdc, the auto box and other ecu controlled components also get updates.
Cheers!
Yeah it’s been a long time coming mate! Lol!
f**king hell you must’ve been bored at work then to read all this drivel! ?
No problem at all. Look after it!
Cheers mate. Yes I must admit I much prefer the 403m wheels. Yours are less susceptible to corrosion though in comparison!
Gonna do a kds (alignment) on it at work and a cheeky software update.
