Thought I’d share some pics I got of a F40 that we had in the workshop this week. Was only in for an mot, but had a good nosey around it!

For me, this is the automotive equivalent of the holy grail. All £1.1m quids worth!

Lovely, I know it's meant to be a better drive than the F50 but I love the looks and sound of the F50 so it holds that place in my heart.

Do you know the story why it was brought to BMW for an MOT? Surely something like that you'd have a specialist you take it to for everything right?

We do all the mot’s for Ferrari mate as they’re on the same site, and also part of the same group I work for. It arrived on a trailer and left on a trailer. Lol! We get to see some earlier classic rarri’s as well.

That car is perfect in every way. They certainly don’t make them like that anymore.

I was given a tour of an Italian specialist few years ago, and they had 3 F40s in various states of service. One was a complete nut and bolt resto, one for new fuel tanks and the other a service. I got to sit in one and start it up, I've been promised to be taken out in one as well but never got round to it.

I've got a massive amount of pics of them too.

You see that Ferrari in the reflection? We had one of those in the other day! Lol!

No idea which you are on about?! I’m rubbish with old Ferrari’s

I need to post up my pics from the Dusseldorf mueseum to be honest

Was a Carrera Gt there
Another special car imo

I think when buying an F40 the fuel cell is viewed in the same way as the timing belt on a 1*2

i.e try and find a car with them done ?

Not sure on the gold/yellow lettering on the rear wing, much prefer it body colour.

Remember looking round one up close at AutoItalia one year - paint was so thin you could see the weave beneath.

The number 2 car of all time for me, trumped only by the McLaren F1 and all variants of it.

My goodness, my favourite car of all time, very jealous.

Did it pass?
Yes mate, certainly did!

I agree - the yellow isn’t to my taste either. I’ve told them that I’ll only buy it if that’s removed.

Meanwhile, back in the real world! ?

The tanks are carbon Kevlar so absorb fuel eventually. The tanks need to be replaced (at a cost of £25,000!) every 10 years.

The company I work for do a lot of them. The last time I was in the workshop there were 6 in there waiting to be done!

As already said by some, I’m not a supercar fan (give me a Mk2 Escort any day!) but the F40 is in a different league of cool. Just f**king awesome!

To me the greatest Supercar ever. My bedroom wall poster car when i was a kid and the still to this day the first car on my lottery win list. Simply epic. The Chris Harris video of him driving the F40 and F50 back to back is on weekly play in my house ?

My dad's boss years ago used to have an F40, he bought it new in the late 80s. It was so expensive to insure that he could only drive it during the daytime.

I reckon that rear wing will look fine from the other side.......?

I love them, but I'd take a 959 over it any day of the week.
