How old was the dephaser? If there's no sign of the bottom end being shot and everything else looks good, it's only really the dephaser that could be the culprit.
I. Like. That. The cost is more than justified in the cnc time and the materials. It will however be compromised like the rs2 is by the fact it's designed to work with the standard car, so not enough plenum volume for all out performance. It's a good looking inlet though for sure!
I would've...
Have you checked the thermostat? Sounds stupid but it's sometimes easy to overlook the simple things. Also I'd consider putting a shroud around the rad to duct the air through the rad. Otherwise it'll just spill around it as it takes the path of least resistance.
Bigash had similar cooling...
Yeah you may find that they need revalving if you go much over 10% of what they're specced for mate. I've no experience of bc's though, so it wouldn't be fair for me to say/pass comment.
No mate I don't race mine. It's not something I've ever considered tbh as I've not got the right temperament...
Have you not seen my updates?! Lol! Yeah done a few more bits and pieces to it. Getting closer now!
Edit: northloop forum is still on the go!! Last time I went on there though there was a few that were a bit up their own arse. Shame really as there seemed to be some nice people too. It just put...
You've done well there then mate with Curtis! He's normally a pain to deal with and promises the world and delivers, erm, nothing. Well that's not strictly true, he does deliver its just normally 3 months after he originally promised! Lol
I'd say 450+ up front tbh mate as mine is on 450's at the front and they're still a tad soft on my Ast's. That equates to a 80n spring and I'm planning on going up to a 90n up front and possibly dropping to a 400lb rear, so a 70n rear.
God knows then mate. Mine are definitely 5200's and they weren't £3500. The 5100's will be more than up to the job for racing anyway tbh. @Tony Hunter runs these iirc.
Yet another small update! The exhaust system is now all fitted. The driveshafts are fitted and the bottom uniball holders are tight and the gear linkage is on and adjusted up.
All that's left to do is the fuel line (fandango adapters sorted), breather from the air box to cam cover and finish...
£3500 for Ast's??? Yeah if you are going for the 3 way adjustable setup, but more like £1400 for the sportline 2's or 5200's as they're now know as. That's what a lot of the mk2 Clio guys in tric trophy run.
I can't say for definite that the dowel key hole is there or not, but I'd imagine you could potentially use one of the holes that's in the end of the cam for the oil feed to the dephaser. If push comes to shove, you just mark it up where it needs to be and take it to a machine shop for the dowel...
If you put a exhaust cam stud in the end of the inlet cam, you'll do away with the vvt as it'll block the oil flow off to the dephaser. That's all assuming that it's the same thread of course.
