Well you guessed right tbf mate!! Although the majority of these things are educated guesses/common sense, as you can never 100% say what happened to cause the failure as you only see the aftermath. Don't be fooled by anyone who says they know it all as they're liars as you've unfortunately...
Lol and the rest tony! Sustained high rpm combined with engine harmonics that aren't suited/matched to that kind of rpm = that as the end result. That's why most race engines are balanced very accurately.
I don't think the high piston speeds help a great deal either on the f4r's to minimise the...
Horses for courses mate. Plus there's a lot of variables. Weight being one of the biggest. My cup is standard 172 power but it out runs a lot of stuff on track because it weighs as much as an empty packet of fags.
I know chip commented on how well your car responded as well. Let's be honest...
How often do you rev to 7850 though? Keep in mind that if it makes more torque lower down on retimed oe cams you won't need to rev the b****cks off it to get it to make progress.
By the time the oil temp has started to rise it's game over mate as the bearing has already spun and destroyed the crank and rod bearings closely followed by blueing the conrods.
Width of rack gear is 574mm long. That measurement is taken from end to end where the steering arms screw on to. If you need anything else measuring just let me know. @CamMoreRon
Looking at some of those prices you've been charged, you could've saved yourself a whole lot of cash if you'd sourced them yourself tbh. I can get the Pistons and rods as a package for £600 delivered to your door for instance. I'm not trying to rub salt in the wound either pete, just showing it...
Just to put it into context the engine I'm building for myself will have cost me no more than £2.5 k mate and that includes a mappable ecu. Power *should* be in the region of 230hp.
I can't measure the ball joint centre to centre as I don't have the cup steering arms though mate. I'll try and get the other measurements tonight for you
No mate the bumper will be still held secure by the teeth in the wings. It's also bolted on at the front on the slam panel and underneath to the subframe.
Just fit some 10 or 12mm spacers to where the column bolts on to the bodyshell at the front and refit the rears with none. It makes enough of a difference to the position of the column without putting the uj out of its comfort zone.
I agree with this tbh. Only thing I'd say different would be kw v2's as they have give you the option for damper adjustment. If you buy brand new genuine wishbones they come with the bushes and rods as well so makes more sense imo.
Cheap coilovers will ruin the handling.
I'm still yet to see a standard wishbone bush that's worn out tbh, but I've seen plenty of poly bushed wishbones causing agg. In all fairness though, that was the older style powerflex bushes that required tack welds on the sleeves.
Depends where the pistons finished up after the Elvis Presley conrod made a bid for freedom and how much oil starvation the rest of its seen.
Potential for the head and cams to be safe, maybe a bent valve or 16 and the pistons could be reused, but that is purely based on where it was in the...
Yeah if you jack the car up it won't work as there's no resistance for the motor to work against.
Measure the voltage at the battery and also at the column with the motor running. It needs to be the same or similar. You also need to measure the amps as well ideally but that's not as easy to...
