Andy,
What kinda time and cleaners/paints go into making an engine look as mint as that.
Mine works fine but who ever designed it would have a heart attack if they saw it, 11 years of wear and grime!!
Willy crank is out of a diesel Clio if memory serves me correctly??
Bit larger than the Valver item and therefore doesnt like higher revs?
I read this in a book - not making out like im a mechanic or anything!
One of my mates has an engine crane and volunteered to swap them over for me...
Think the Williams route is starting to be more viable.
Being the head expert that you are ben - is it easy to change and then get the timing set back up again, as itll be out of the car it may be sensible to get it all done in one go.
103k miles at present, had it RRd @ 136.5 bhp so its running pretty well.
Thinking that head work will be time and labour consuming.
If a willy lump goes strait in I could prob do it with the help of a few of my mechanic mates!
Your proving to be a very helpful man Ben!
I havent even got money sorted yet, Im just planning my options while I try and sort out my finances.
Have the head work in mind or perhaps a Willy lump, I have a garage I could keep it in there, get it all mint then get some one to put it in for...
Is this a strait engine swap or would I need to swap the ecu, gearbox, manifold etc.
What kinda work is it and has any one had it done that can give me details of prices and work to do.
Is the 2.0ltr seriously better than the 1.8 - I know it revs less which is a shame.
Any help much...
I get a noise resembling metal grinding at 100mph, as I drive like a pleb I get this noise alot, never been concerned but perhaps now have the solution!!
Renault invented the electrical gremlin.
2 Clios and Ive had, rear washer (both cars), both wing mirrors, passenger window (both cars), speedo bulbs both cars, various brake, indicator bulbs (both cars), ignition coil, front washer jets and fcuk knows what else.
I actually find it quite...
Ben, I keep hearing that you do head mods, what kinda stuff can you do and what sort of prices you charge?
Looked at in to the BB tuning head/cam/chip package but they charge alot of dolla for it!!
Im not a mechanic but is that the bare throttle bodies of the carb poking out through the bonnet?
It look as though there is no kind of air filter(s) at all - surely not a good idea?
On the bright side - it solves the problem of hot air in-take!!
I got some 17"x7" foxs with 205/40/17 rubber on a lowered Valver. (-35mm)
The problem is, I believe they are R5 GTT fitment as when I put them on they nearly took off my rear calipers.
I whacked a pair of spacers on the back (17mm as my mate had a set) but theres a little rubbing going on...
Worth checking the pedal as well, there was a defect and they caused cables to snap.
I went through two cables and a pedal within a year (probably a lot less) before I found that out.
Even a turbo kit would require some one with alot of mechanical know how though surely??
I wouldnt even dream of taking an engine appart and putting things like that on it!
I think Ill stick with the idea of getting the head and cams with a chip, at least all the works carried out by some...
Think with the VAT its about £1,800ish at BB Tuning, was wondering how it improves low down torque, acceleration top end speeds etc.
Would like T/Bs but might be out of my price range - check out the pics on Hill Powers website!!
