Weird front track difference (with camber)

My opinion of that is one is a cup drilling and the other is ff. Somewhere along the way during manufacture of replacement parts, someone's got it round their sack and just fired them together not knowing there's a difference between the cup or ff. All my opinion of course, but it's the only...

Weird front track difference (with camber)

It depends on if you want camber I suppose! Lol! The o/s does look strange though with how far the hub sticks out. I'd be tempted to take a die grinder to the o/s and elongate the hole 2mm, or return them to where you got them and see if they have any others in stock so you can compare them all...

Weird front track difference (with camber)

This sounds very much to me like one is cup and one is ff tbh mate. 2mm should be enough to bring the camber on a cup back to that of a standard car. I'd imagine it's the top bolt hole of the 2 that has been located differently. From memory cups and ff's have the same camber angle from the...

Ooh! Interested to see your findings on this!

Weird front track difference (with camber)

Yes mate I'm on about 172 cup dampers so if yours is 54mm spacing they'll fit. There's no way that Renault could get a ff172 and a cup to have the same camber without camber correction to compensate for the additional 5 or so mm additional track width per wheel that the cup has. Are both...

Weird front track difference (with camber)

I still maintain that cup dampers have different drillings to compensate for the slightly wider front track so this could be a part of your problem maybe? Especially if you've got more negative camber (wheel in more at the top)

    Toastfrenzy's Tin Top, some say...........

I've got an awesome fuel tank, swirl pot and fuel pump setup that would be ideal for you Toastfrenzy ;)

    Interchangeable cylinder heads

It's more biased to making power sooner tbh, but obviously that will alter the torque spread too. I'll let you know how peaky the engine is when mines in and running! Lol

Black Clio 172 ph2 from Russia

No you get them from here mate. They're a copy of the R3 maxi evo setup. http://www.xrallyparts.com/

Look here in this post and you'll see what they look like: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?729447-On-the-hunt-for-a-clio-r3-exhaust-manifold

    Interchangeable cylinder heads

Yeah they're a proper bit of kit ain't they! They're about 1k from Renault as well, so not excessive imo. Lol - hammer and a condom mate! If the hammer don't work, f**k it! Flol

    Interchangeable cylinder heads

I'll send you a pic via SMS mate. Nice bit of kit tbf, and I *think* it'll fit in a 1*2!

    Interchangeable cylinder heads

You'd need to check the combustion chamber for clearance on a 1*2 if using 197 pistons, but other than that yeah pretty much fit and forget. The maxi kit is something that was offered as an upgrade package for the Clio R3 rally car. There were 2 different packages available - R3 maxi (230hp)...

    Interchangeable cylinder heads

Lol! Just bang some 197 pistons in with a 1*2 head. You'll up the comp ratio quite nicely. I've got a full R3 maxi kit for mine. ;)

    Interchangeable cylinder heads

It's worth mentioning that you need to drill and tap the 197 head to accept a 1*2 idler roller as well. The 197 cambelt runs the water pump so it doesn't require the idler that the 1*2 has.

    Interchangeable cylinder heads

In a perfect world yes as they are intruder type pistons from the factory. No RS2 won't match up at all as the bolt pattern is different and on the 197/200 head the ports are higher up. I modified a 172 head to accept a 197 inlet, but it's far too much hassle and work to be worthwhile doing.

    Interchangeable cylinder heads

In R3 maxi guise they pull 230hp standard without headwork and also retain the standard inlet. Very well designed cylinder head imo.

    Fletch's 150k 172 Project..

It's mainly seats with the wrap around head restraints and quick release steering wheels that they've clamped down on. I never had an issue with my x door bars at all.

If your genuinely concerned mate fill the tank to the brim. It's less flammable! Serious as well!

Don't worry about the fuel tank mate. I welded my cage feet in with the tank still in place!! Lol! No issues there either.

Yeah it's standard as well other than the exhaust. They're like a fine wine, get better with age! Lol! Yeah Stephens a nice honest genuine bloke mate. He's maintained it regardless of cost as well.

Lol! Thought I recognised the car/reg! It's my fault he bought a 172! Took him for a blast out in one of my cups and he was hooked

As Colin Chapman said, "simplify, then add lightness"! Best way to improve performance. Oh? I've definitely replied to all your pm's mate, so not sure what's happened there. In answer to your question, nope not yet!! Issues along the way have fucked the job up atm. Frustrating.

    polycarbonate windows views????

I've personally not got fg doors as it gets used on the road. I've got x door bars as well, so in theory I should be safe, but not entirely sure I'd want that element of risk. Having spoke to a guy doing crash tests at Mira, I may go down this route as even at 20mph a lamppost in a side on...

    polycarbonate windows views????

Yeah it's quite a significant saving tbh. The rear glass (heated screen) weighs about 7kgs vs 2.5kgs of the polycarb! The rear screen is also the most expensive to replace. There was one for sale a few weeks ago and I don't think it sold. He wanted £120 I think.

    polycarbonate windows views????

The lack of sound deadening in my car attributes to some of the heat as well. Obviously you get heat soak from the engine and exhaust system.

    polycarbonate windows views????

I can't comment on the weight of the sliders, but unless you've got some sort of scoop to draw the air in they don't work as well as you'd ideally like them to. I weighed my glass vs polycarbs and iirc it was 2 polycarb fronts/qtrs were equal to the weight of one piece of glass.
