With regards to the flywheel Russ, the ONLY reliable way to lighten a standard flywheel is to replace it with a proper billet item imo. The oe cast item will always be running the risk of suffering from fatigue, and let's be honest, who's going to remove the gearbox after every race to check it...
It fits in the original gear shift housing. You have to drop it from the underside of the car. It comes with full fitting instructions and it's easy enough to do.
No stiff shift doesn't reduce throw.
Look on here mate - http://www.dp-automotive.hu/dpa_developments.html#q8
That one pictured above doesn't appear on yanoo's website so I'd say it's not one of his products. Look at stiff shift.
If that's the one that has a longer gear lever you need to use the short shift link to bring the gear lever throw back so it will be fine. If it's not, just don't rush the gear changes as you'll do damage to the synchros.
don't know how much they cost I'm afraid. My stiff shift cost £50 iirc.
Do you mean stiff shift? I have the stiff shift and it's brilliant. Takes all the slop out of the original linkage and makes the shift smooth and precise.
If the lead is breaking down it can do it at anytime really. Coilpack is another possibility. For the cost of plug leads and coilpack I'd just replace them both tbh. These cars are at that age where these things are past their peak.
Honestly mate you'd be surprised. Dibs on the Quaife if it's not dead and you do decide to go the gripper route though! I'll get you a gripper at a good price as well. ;)
Tony - Quaife will service your atb and replace all the worn parts. It's not silly money. In fact they did a mate of mines for free as they've got a lifetime warranty.
I use a blue point one that I bought off snap on mate. It's got pressure release as well and it's accurate. I have to have it calibrated every year as I use it at work. Cost about £25
No mate. You need to find another jc5 129 with speedo drive. These are found in most ph2 172's or you need to get one out of a ph1 which is a jc5 089. Slightly different final drive on the 089 but nothing to worry about.
Do you have warning lights as well as the gauges? Only reason I ask is that from having first hand experience of gauges, in the heat of the moment you don't look at them until it's too late.
At the point he loses control I'm hitting around 135 in my cup!!!! NEVER lift off in foxhole!! I bet the driver didn't know whether to s**t or go blind. Nasty.
You could get a Yanoo shifter kit that came with a short shift linkage gents. I have the stiff shift 1.0 and I rate it. Haven't tried a pms shifter so can't comment.
The pms beam strengthening kit works better than a whiteline arb mate. It also means you can get away with running a slightly softer spring setup at the rear. It helps to stop ludicrous geometry changes when the rears under load as well.
I've not got it fitted on my car, but I intend on doing.
Tein coilovers are a good bit of kit if your doing Trackdays and circuit racing. Not so nice on the road as they're valved/sprung more for competition. A mate of mine had them on a celica gt4 - awesome on track - awful on the road. As with everything, there's always a trade off I'm afraid.
It won't effect the speedo in any hardly noticeable way at all mate so I wouldn't worry personally. The only way it could effect the cornering is because the oz f1's have a different offset and as a result the wheel sits more in board when compared to the cup turinis. This means you've decreased...
