The speed.
In comparison to your 182, a mk1 would be no different. I had a dabble with a mk2 last week which was quicker but not by a country mile, with 25bhp less, I would expect this gap to disappear.
Very nice car mate. I thought you'd spun it when I first saw you turning outside the Aagrah.
I couldn't believe how quickly the V6 picked up and fooked off. I felt like I was waiting an age for mine to go anywhere. She was stone cold though.
The wheel on my 172 had recently started to split on the back of the right thumb grip. The damage was nothing major but it was irritating and would only get worse.
I soon realised that the issues were down to the fact that the grip wasn't actually attached to the wheel and could be compressed...
What size were yours Josh and in what way were they dangerous? I'm thinking of 7mm all round on my 172 but without extended bolts etc. if possible.
Maybe that's why I haven't seen your old bus around lately, the scally owner has probably ditched it.
P.S. the spacers on that site, do they fit...
I'm sure I have read that it is worth doing the water pump as a precautionary measure. I know it is not run off of the cambelt but i'm sure I remember it being much easier with the belts off.
Car is on 48k and 5 years BTW.
How much is a water pump likely to set me back from Renault and GSF?
Cheers bud.
I think the new style lettering takes a bit of getting used to but it wors well with the new RS badge.
A meet would be good Jamie. I'm struggling for free time at the mo' due to starting a new job recently and a 6 month training programme but I hope to get to Pauls for the RR...
Thanks for the comments guys. I've been thinking of selling up lately and getting something a little more in keeping with my job (a Financial Consultant getting into this doesn't always work).
I just can't justify the extra expense as nothing comes close to the bang per buck so I'm just going...
Peanuts mate, probably around £20. You would be better off boxing it up and keeping it in the loft. Whip it out in 10 years and then sell as a retro masterpiece.
I love this weather. The car stays clean for days and a wash only takes an hour or so.
No new mods as yet. The next pics will probably show my matched and polished inlet and plenum and my 182 manifold with decat, all of which are on their way.
Comments welcome, as long as they're positive.
What do you mean by 'ball end' Fred?
Does the 182 cat have the same matings as a 172 cat ie. flange with mating face at the back end and sprung flange at the manifold end with metallic sealing ring?
I just need to make sure I have a cat' available come MOT time.
Do you supply the link...
So I should buy the cat' as well and whip a couple of inches off for the MOT then buy a decat for the rest of the year.
What is involved in modding the cat' Fred?
I have just read the K-Tec ad' for the link pipe and it would appear that the gap between the mani' and exhaust is to short to fit the 182 cat' so the exhaust will need to be modded to fit the cat'?
I'm about to hand over the beans for a 182 manifold but the cat' is available as well.
From what I have read, I gather that the 182 mani' leaves a gap between the 182 cat' and the 172 and that you simply need a link pipe to make up the difference.
Can someone confirm this is correct?
I totally agree Gaz. There will of course be a point where nothing more can be gained. I am just curious to see how much bigger or smaller the Maxogen is in relation to the phase 1 filter.
