cheers! :)
just looked through the bag of bolts they gave me and they included them! :o :o (they were sitting on a bolt though, so i didn't notice)
thanks again you wonderful people! :D
on a 172, the BE has some 'locating cylinders' so that you can properly align the head (I think? :D)
my BE and head have come back from being decked and skimmed and these are missing... are they vital?
can I just bolt the head on as normal? or will it not align properly or something? :S
based on a 7000 limiter and 195 50 15 tyres,
Mph/1000rpm - Max. speed
5.64 - 40
9.36 - 66
13.20 - 92
16.95 - 119
21.95 - 154
that's from my calculations based on the Renault workshop manual for gearboxes (JC5 089, so ph1 172)
is this the same one that used to have a 200bhp C1J in it? (now in rons clio)
is there a progress thread? :D
is it possible to put a megane head (+turbo) on a 197 F4R or even a 1*2 F4R?
right, no more fuckups!!
hopefully :dapprove:
back from the machine shop:
crank + bearings cleaned and checked
bottom end decked & honed
came back all nicely wrapped :o
cleaned!
skimmed!
worried about this though? looks like a bit has broken off :S
just waiting on the...
rung around a few places. Renault don't sell them individually.
finally found a place that has them for about £14...but they will get them 'maybe Tuesday' :/
I've reused my head gasket about 3 times now. the first 2 times it was only in use for a few miles and the 3 time... about 300 miles I think.
I've since had to take the engine apart again to get it honed and fit new piston rings. the gasket *looks* ok. the block has been decked and the head...
i almost have mate :(
but it needs to be done, and im so close!
found a machine shop who can hone it for me. i'm going to get them to check the crank first though, to make sure its ok... as i really want to be sure
then hone it, new piston rings... and away i go!
the rest of the conversion...
phoned renault, they said £36.01 inc the vat per piston, which bmh.01 said. they gave the same part number too
gosnays said they didnt have anything for the F4R
so looks like i might as well get them ordered from renault. about £144.
then i'll need to get my block honed and check the mains...
me too... they wouldnt let me into the non-paddock parking
'sports cars only' :dapprove:
.....as i spied an R19 16v in there
thoroughly shot down! :D
did you see my clio? ph1 valver with polished turbines, was parked very near the gate
no where can source piston rings and i do not have the money to upgrade to forged etc..
so I'm using my original crank case and mains caps with the crank/bearings/rods/pistons from engine #2
I'm going to reuse the rings from #1 and put them back in the cylinder they came from nd hope it works...
