Was gonna PM it anyway chaps.
Dogmaul, I know what you mean, where I train we have a few guys on gear and they are exactly the same. Liable to snap at any moment for no apparant reason and always think there it when there not.
its actually on a R plate (not P my mistake) I drove past it last night. Spoke to him once he said it was sat in a showroom and wasnt registered.
Makes me laugh though, if the bloke believes his williams is worth that much why does he leave it parked in the street on a tight bend. Hes having...
I agree, with the williams you get the status of classic all round hot hatch.
Im of the same thinking as you aaronc. If I was to get a williams id hope it was as fast, as mine seems to be a fairly quick 16v also. On a performance meter I got a 0-60 time 0f 7.6 cant remember what the 1/4 was of...
I know the differances between the cars Kelly, its not that. Its just looking at the same dash board, and the day to day driving is similar. Ive had my 16v for 3 1/2yrs now and I like the willies but am not sure if theres enough of a differance to keep me happy. I seem to have a fast 16v and...
That autotrader link for the 9.5k williams lives round the corner from me. Its a willie 1 registered on a P plate. He tried to sell it a while back for 15k IIRC. It was discussed on the site and laughed at.
In aylesbury every other car is a 172 or 182. CTRs are less common.
Our Thrifty car rental place has a blue 182 with the stripes which I may hire for a weekend though. ;):devilish:
No thanks to the renault 5 already blown one of them up.
Williams no thanks as you cant really modify one of them can you.
Valver, Ive owned one for 3.1/2yrs and to extract any serious power your talking stupid money. Also goes for the williams.
At least with the RST and the GTI engine...
I prefer older cars and a 2.1zvh conversion in a RST is almost untouchable. Which is what my plans almost certainly are. Although my mate has put a 225 TT lump in a MK2 golf and sent it off to AMD Its now pushing 260bhp. Now that is also "kin" fast.
Scoobys dont appeal to me. The only jap car...
Ok i know im asking a clio forum BUT what car would you rather have and why:-
Series 2 Escort RS turbo (90 spec)
Mk2 golf GTI (big bumper)
Clio 16V Phase 2.
My mate wants to buy my Valver (which ive had for 3-1/2yrs) and im tempted to sell it and get one the above. The only reason id...
From what I understand peoples valvers run temps all over the place.
Im not using any water, and oil - water is all clean. Might just be the way it is. always used to run at 1/2 though. Left it for 2 weeks and it now runs higher. Thats why I started changing the possible problem parts, temp...
Mine sits just below 3/4s Danny.
Changed the temp sensor, fan switch and thermostat now.
Going to do a compression test tonight me thinks, just to make sure there all even and give me a indication if its the head gasket.
Where does your temp gauge sit? Ive just fitted a new thermostat and it sits about 2 lines under the 3/4 mark the fan comes on about 2 lines over the 3/4 mark. My mates valver runs at 1/2 way and the fan comes in on 3/4 but anothers runs inbetween the two ive mentioned. Weird.
[Edited by I...
If the head needs skimming ill skim it. I work as a production engineer for a large engineering company and am apprentice trained to HND standard and could always jump on a m/c and skim it myself.
I just want to know costs of changing a head gasket.

The centre bore of the wheel which slides over the hub flange.
In other words the centre bore of the toyota wheels is too small at 54mm and wont fit as clios require 60mm clearance in the centre of the wheel to clear the flange and locate on the face of the hub.
im not spending £7k on a engine. From past experience with turbos N/A power is far better. Its a lot more usable from standing starts and throughout the rev range. The big bang of power a turbo gives provides unpredictable results, especially mid corner etc etc. IMHO 170/180 bhp N/A is far better...
All valver gear sticks move a fair amount under acceleration. The best way to check for engine and gearbox mounts is to accelerate hard in 2nd and without holding the gearstick let off the throttle, if it jumps out of gear the mounts mainly the dog bone mount need replacing. If it stays in gear...
Thats what I was thinking. cammed and chipped 2.0, coilovers, buckets, cage, paint and ive got myself a real weapon which should keep with cups but in a better looking body.
New is not always best though is it. Ive had the car 4yrs and if I done the work on it would keep it for another 4yrs. I have a company car a golf GTI TDI so the hybrid/cup would be a toy. Hmmmmm
