I think this sums them up. A friend of mine has had a 54 plate Leon Cupra TDI from new. He loves it and it is his third diesel in as many years. He does approx 75 miles each day on his round trip just to work and back. He recently bought his fiancee a 172. She is covering the same distance each...
I've done a similar thing with a mapped VRS. The VRS had a slight edge up until around 25mph but the Clio soon clawed this back (once I'd wiped the black soot from my eyes ;) ). After this, the Clio was definately quicker but not by a massive margin. They're good cars in the right hands and when...
Driven properly, the 1*2 all day long. Certain individuals will tell you that on the third tuesday of every month, when you have your flux capacitor only half full and you start your car in reverse without changing down a gear at 22mph in fourth, the Golf will be quicker but in the 'real' world...
Drive a slower car. I've just bought a 147 1.6 Twin Spark for my girlfriend. 120 bhp and 0-60 in around 10 seconds. It's not slow by any stretch and I've been driving it since wednesday last week.
Then I got into the bullet this morning and I was overwhelmed. I couldn't get over the pace...
My Metro GTI. I bought it as a stop gap after my mint (very nearly 20XE'd) Nova was stolen. I paid peanuts for it and loved every minute. It was a rotter when it died and a wet journey from Liverpool to Leeds right royally killed it but it was so much fun.
I would love another with a 160bhp...
Re-setting the ECU will/may not restore lost power but it will allow the car to adjust to a new set of 'rules' much quicker as the car is essentially a blank canvas. If you were to run the car normally, it would take hundereds of miles to gradually adjust to the new information.
As Stan says...
It may well be due to heat soak but ambient temperatures are decreasing by the day. Bear in mind that the Pipercross will most probably have a larger surface area than your standard filter meaning the ECU might not be fuelling correctly.
If I were you, I would knock up some form of aluminium...
I've been looking for ages and very nearly had a set.
Short of skulking around a supermarket car park late one night, I think I may have to go to the stealers.
Does anyone have a part number for these and costs? Or any for sale?
The central mount on my 172 went long ago. I bodged a rubber in its place but the pipe work is knocking against my rear axle again.
Does anyone have the part no and cost of the central mount?
LOL, thankfully we're all quite trim, i'm the heaviest of the lot unfortunately.
75kg would equate to just short of an extra 7% added to the weight of the car so I suppose it is quite alot.
To cut a long story short. A mates girlfriend has a standard '03 172 FF which required a new exhaust. We picked it up from Powerflow with me in my 172 FF. On the way back home we had a lttle jaunt up a motorway slip road and down to the next junction. The performance of the cars was absolutely...
Ah, the Mullins mobile. I see it almost every day in West Riding House NCP in Leeds city centre. I'm suprise he hasn't posted a spotted thread about my tastefully modded 172 ;) .
A mate of mine bought this exact kit for his 2.2 Vectra DTI around 3 years ago. It cost him 19.99 LOL. he binned (literally) after 10 days.
Just buy a panel filter and replace the acoustic valve with a length of induction hose. Job done for £45.
Gaz, has yours had a respray around the front end as your bumper doesn't have the small black stickers either end of the gap above the number plate.
Quality pic's though and quality motors.
It's an affliction Chic, most people think I only see black and white when I tell them. T'is quite funny though when you try to convince people that the green you are looking at actually appears grey.
