Before I had the map fitted I was returning about 27-28mpg after a good caning and about 32-33mpg with normal driving.
The new map gives a more constant mpg figure of around 32 even during a beating. I have also noticed that long range mpg is slightly improved.
As for the rev limit, I believe...
It's my car that the first one went onto. I can't give any guarantees but I wouldn't have the map on the car if I thought it may cause problems.
The map is simply uploaded to your ECU and no one is any the wiser, not even Renault can detect it.
The car is also much smoother with less erratic MPG...
It's not a Laguna splitter as they only have small vents at either end:

I reckon it's a Seat splitter with the top whipped off then molded in:

Sainsburys Super is only 2p more per litre and many regard it as being on a par with Optitat.
I can honestly say that my car does run more smoothly on the Sainsburys stuff but I don't think any performance increase would be noticeable.
Still, it can't do any harm.
Here you go mate, Barry Argain:

When I have the ignition on listening to the stereo, the throttle actuator on the side of the inlet makes a buzzing noise.
Is this common and what is it doing?
I ran my car back to back with the standard map Stu. I understand that I cannot accurately compare my figures to the figures on ths S'chips site as we were using different rolling roads.
I have still gained alot of low down torque though which is where it matters and appears to beat the gains...
My old Cavalier Ecotec was on a par with a Cooper S. That was only 136bhp. The Mini may have been driven by a fairy but the Cavalier was really well geared. I would say a well driven one may have been a different story though.
I don't think a Mini could stick with a Clio. Book figures for...
Cheers for that guys.
I just wanted to compare my graph to the standard cars: http://members.lycos.co.uk/ebusiness04/172%20map.pdf
From that compared to the Superchips site, my map seems to perform quite well. I have gained more torque lower down the range and it only appears to have lost...
I want to compare my cars power and torque figures to a standard car. Does anyone know the standard figures of a mk2 172 and 182.
Power graphs would be even more useful.
I'm not sure of Pauls exact postcode mate but try this, it's about 10 secs from his house in Leeds: LS16 7QD.
The price is between £250 and £275 and takes about 15-20 mins.
Well worth the cash. Drop him a PM, pmurray on this thread.
Is the IK sealed or open? If it is open it may well be drawing hot air which would lose you power and torque. Try a decent cold air feed or even boxing the IK in away from the heat of the engine.
As for the exhaust, it will liberate a few bhp but will allow the engine to rev more freely due...
Looking at the S'chips site, they claim 13 nm of torque increase which equates to just over 9 lb ft. The map on my car has gained somewhere between 12 and 14 lb ft but between 4 and 6 bhp. We also tried a map, as Paul said which would have given nearer the 9 bhp gains Superchips claim but less...
Where have you seen him in Crossgates Jamie? I'll trot round and have a word. You can come with me and we can show him what a 172/182 should look like.
Where do you work mate, might have seen you about.
I think I might know which rover you mean, was it a dark red'ish colour Honda Concerto shape 214 which was sky high with a stick on tail pipe and 17's.
The guy i'm thinking had coke bottle glasses.
I think it's the same bloke.
Tool
You could get one of these. Just had mine RR'd today and it put out 178bhp and again of 12lb ft of torque.

I think the main problem with a kit for the clio is that the wings are plastic so would struggle to take the load of the bonnet without sufficient reinforcement.
Anything is possible though, it just depends how much time/money you want to spend.
The results are in.
I have attached a dyno plot showing the standard map on my car vs the new map. As Paul said, we went for a map which offered 1-2 less bhp but added much more torque lower down the rev range, check out the torque gains between 2300 and 4000 rpm. There's about 12-13 lb ft...
I walked past it and laughed thinking it was a 1.2. Then I thought, twin pipes, alloys, bumpers, someones converted a 1.2. Then I looked inside and saw the interior and couldn't believe what I was seeing, and I'm not referring to the blue harnesses with standard seats and red shoulder pads. I...
If you look at the shot from the back you can see the 'additions' to the sideskirts. They run from the back edge of the door down to the back edge of the side skirt.
Poor.
I know it is probably someones pride and joy but WHY????
I didn't manage to get a photo of the sideskirts which appeared to be made of wood!!!
PICS NOT WORKING, I'LL REHOST
The mk2 172 and I presume 182 have a shift light which gives an indication as to when to change gear so you would never normally go beyond this as it would not be a safe or particularly quick way of making progress.
The limiter on my map is somewhere between 7250 and 7500, not exactly sure...
