Very poor pics.
Just to give a rough idea of routing.
And the sort of route the pipe takes out of sight.
I'll try get some better pics if you need some.
Driveway is new mate but it doesn't pile loads of crap out so it's not really a problem.
I got 2m of hose but I only ended up using used 1m. It was £5 for 2m and the internal diameter is 15mm.
I have taken a couple of pics which I'll post now.
I'll try and get a couple of pics up for you but basically the new pipe runs down the bulk head and exits at the back of the NS subframe mount. I have tried to angle the pipe towards the road so it doesn't splatter my car.
I probably worded that my statement rather badly. I was meant to say that for a fairly standard car like mine, the standard box would be more than adequate.
The breather is the crankcase breather which runs from the back of the block under the engine cover round to the 90 degree bend of the inlet elbow.
This recirculates crank case gasses back into the inlet which takes up potential O2 space.
I have rerouted my breather underneath the car so it...
Just seen on your profile that you were born in 1986. You shouldn't have a car like that at your age. Good effort though mate. If my 20 year old brother had a 182 he would have written it off as soon as he turned the key. You may know him, Danny Leach or me, Ben?
All down to preference mate. A Hill Power kit will cost about £250 and I don't think that includes the Bend which would be advised, maybe even required. The BMC is about £160 I believe and again would probably require a silicone hose. Then there is the ITG Maxogen or the PiperX Viper, all...
If you need an elbow mate, contact Team Think on here or google Think Auotomotive. I got a 70mm bore 90 degree elbow for my 172 today for £19 delivered. Cheap as chips. the equivalent Hill Power bend is around £50 I think.
Think I've seen you pulling out of there mate on a couple of occasions. I used to have an N Reg metallic green Cavalier SRI but I got an Iceberg 172 about a month ago. Looks standard at the mo other than stainless exhaust and cup splitter.
If it's the car I'm thinking of, I was well jealous...
Just had my silicone elbow delivered about 30 mins ago (!!!) courtesy of Think automotive.
Well happy, it tidies the inlet up nicely and was cheap as chips at less than £20 delivered.
Only just manages to sit over the airbox lip though.
Pics:
No breather inlet as it is now vented under...

These are back on again for anyone interested. Not mine. I bought one though and they are well worth it.
LOL. Sorry mate, No.1 is already on the silver bullet. The real world gains are really good though and would be worth full price let alone the discounted rate.
I read some nasty stuff about cotton style filters here:
http://www.max-boost.co.uk/max-boost/intake/intake.htm#highflowreplacementairfilters
Not to say that is gospel but I have a PiperX foam panel and I'm more than happy with it. It's the cheapest of that lot as well.
How can you improperly install an Ecotek? You cut a pipe, stick it in the middle then turn a screw until it makes a horrible noise, then wind back a 1/4 of a turn. Can't really do it wrong.
In terms of measurement, my Cavalier went for an MOT with the FSE and Ecotek fitted and failed...
Which particular NGK's are they Jon as I would prefer not to buy from a dealer - I have just run out of lube LOL.
I am guessing you mean new leads aren't worth it?
My 172 is on roughly 31k. I know that the plug change intervals are massive on these but would a new set of decent plugs be of benefit?
What should I look for?
Would decent leads be worth bothering with as I can't see the original items having taken too much stick.
TFR is meant to be good stuff. My bro's mates get it from work. Like rocking horse shat though and meant to really expensive.
I use gunk which is quite good.
I just wash the insides of the bay - paintwork, engine cover etc as I would wash the car normally. Then a quick blast with a jet wash. Always being careful not catch any electrics. I do this once a week so the engine doesn't have chance to get dirty.
