Ben j - you must be really ham-fisted if you reckon you cant stop a stopwatch within 6 seconds of reaching the correct speed!!!! Its easily possible to time yourself to within a second using a stopwatch.
I do the shopping in my Williams too. However, I deliberately drive to a Tesco about 10 miles away for the drive (going past perfectly good Safeway, Morrisons, Sainsburys and another Safeway on my journey!).
Oh yeah, Aaroncs fast standard valver at Santa Pod, 15.9 seconds, Craggys VTS at Santa Pod, 15.6 seconds.
Still, Id get the valver over the VTS.....too many Furios and VTRs around to make the VTS stand out....
VTRs are nowhere compared to the 1.8 16v Clio / Williams in terms of power. VTS, as I know, are worryingly quick on the straight and level, but the Willy edges it up hills and, standard vs. standard, handles better. To follow a Williams a VTS needs to use both sides of the road (isnt that right...
Try http://www.confused.comwww.confused.com to get a load of quotes at once. Im 26 with 5 year NCD and get turned down by most insurers on the Williams. Didnt happen with the 172!

Tesco and Admiral gave me the best quotes, but I used http://www.confused.comwww.confused.com who get you loads of quotes for filling in the forms just the once.....

"the car would tick over but not start"
BobRTE - if the car was immobilised then would it not refuse to do anything at all? (I presume he means the starter motor turned over).
Just that my car will not do a damned thing without me pressing the immobiliser button first. If I turn the key in...
Ive only been 1/4 miling once. Really enjoyed it but no matter how hard I concentrated, I kept either spinning up or bogging down on the line . 15.6 was my best in the 172. Cack!
Would be very suprised to see a standard Cup running 14.5 seconds 1/4 mile. It looks like 14.8/14.9 on an exceptional run is more like it with 15.0/15.1 normally. Still, under 15 seconds is very good....
For straight line racing, have a look at some CTR 1/4 mile times. Ive not seen one do it in less that 15 seconds (unlike the Cup) and generally they are on a par with standard 172s. I do not believe that they hit 100 in 14.4 seconds. The last one I saw at Santa Pod was running 15.1 - 16.0...
Hi Nick,
Thanks for the reply. I notice that BenR says you have been getting a slating recently, that isnt my intent, I think Ive managed to clearly state why Im disappointed with the kit/description and not just had a go for no reason.
I would pay for a shield to go over the top part of the...
Fair comments Wongy, I am more disappointed in Hillpower than anything else. The kit is currently working better than my airbox as I have constructed a makeshift airtight heat shield, but its too flimsy to leave there permenantly.
I reckon that ramair filter is much less restrictive than even...
I remember that Wayne (aka Slugger) had a BMC sealed induction kit on his MK1 172 which sounded great and made a much more direct route for the cold air to reach the filter. Thats what I was hoping for and havent got. Im suprised that Im the only person who finds Hillpowers website misleading...
Would be a shame to see another Williams split from its original rims and modified :(. Youll probably be better off in the long run keeping the original rims in storage until you come to sell it. Theres a post somewhere on the forum saying that new Willy wheels from Renault cost £900 or so...
Not according to the Hillpower website.

We use a Ramair foam filter housed in a cold air induction cone of our own design. The induction housing is fed with cold air from the front of the...
Ive just bought a 2nd hand Hillpower induction kit. The IK has a heat shield, but it is in a bit of a dozy place (The side furthest away from the engine!). The top of the IK is totally open and the hole for the air feed is tiny. The result is what feels like a major loss of power at all revs...
Clean - Ill take a piccy for you when I get home. I cant describe the 2nd piece of cable, but the car didnt start until we plugged it in. I just remember that it plugged in just in front of the ECU compartment, in the actual engine bay, and I think the plug on it is light green.
Anyway, will...
