Really pleased to see Craggys VTS putting in a 14.9 after a couple of runs against it in the Willy midweek which were pretty much neck and neck. Pity I cant do good launches really!
And Jons doing 14.6! Incredible.
Ben H - have a look at 205 diesels. They aint quick but the handling is superb. Infact, they drive just like the GTis! A mate has just bought one with the much nice phase 2 interior. Its got 150000 miles on the clock but is just totally reliable and fun to drive. Its not a tubo diesel though...
Your engine wont pink when its turned off! The ticking is just the sound of metal cooling down and contracting.
Rhys
Edit - You beat me to it, Mike! I will add that if you want to stop the ticking, dont let the metal get warm. I would recommend packing your engine bay full of ice before...
That clip was more exciting to watch that boring F1. Not kidding. Thought they were going to smash into each other a couple of times. Good clip. Better driving than I could manage!
Should just mention at this point that at the same RR day, my totally (properly totally) standard Williams got mailto:156@fly">156@fly. Go 2 litre, GO! :D:p
Edit - did I mention the 131 lbft of torque?
Heheheh
You could follow my example for exterior mods. Simply put something solid under the bonnet and then slam it down hard. Hey presto! A seconds bonnet bulge!
Dash - Sound advice, but remember even super light weight grommets still weigh something. Suppose you could compensate by filling the now enlarged loadbay with Helium baloons.
Try saving weight in your V6 by removing the hulking great engine thing from your boot.
Rhys
Controversial words, Paddy! If the Cup has shaved 0.3 seconds to 60mph off the MK2 172, then your weight reductions should mean you are 0.15 seconds or so quicker than you were before. Surely you can feel that? ;)
Seriously though, its really hard to tell if performance has improved or...
Lol! I thought you were talking about the bench!! (eg: the bit you sit on!). you said you removed the top part and that it was the bottom part you couldnt do! Heheheh....that explains it now....
See the bolt? Loosen it off. The splits for the seat back are held together with a bolt running...
Dead easy to replace the panel filter. Just use torx keys to loosed off the bolts on the airbox and lift it off. Might need to undo an jubilee clip too if it doesnt lift off easily. Change filters and reverse process.
Loads of threads about tyres. Probably your best bet is some Toyo Proxes...
Neil, they should come out dead easily. They are the same on the Willy as on the 172. You see the 2 catches per part of the bench? They just have a small kink at the end that is attached to the car. It might be more or less than 90 degrees where they come out, but they do just bull straight out...
You should be able to claim on your insurance for the windows and get autoglass to bill them direct. Youll have to pay about £50 depending on the policy you have but the rest will be taken car of without losing your no claims.
