Thanks for that Jon, will get it done tomorrow after work when im in my work clobber.
just for reference i bought a clamp the same as the one people pointed out on ebay/posted pics of for under £11 with a tube of exhaust sealent from CES UK.
Thanks for everyones help will post how ive got on...
Next question before i go upto CES, when applying the exhaust sealent paste do i need to just apply a little around the joint or is it best to use plenty of the stuff and wipe the excess off once the clamps fitted and tightened?
just had the same experience myself after driving a 1.6 Focus hire car in Spain for a week. Got back in the 182 and couldn't believe how heavy the clutch is.
Having said that try driving an ST170...the clutches on them make the 182's feel light.
Something like that easy enough to change over with the car on axle stands on the drive? now you mention it the guy who repositioned the joint didnt apply any firegum type sealent
Hi Guys,
Recently been having a bit of grief with my exhaust on my 182 around a clamp which joins the centre pipe to the back box. I think that this has been fitted as the exhaust has been blowing at somepoint. Am i right in thinking when out of the factory the centre pipe/back box is one...
I bought some from my local motor factors for £9 each which is a bargain compared to the £22 Renault/Ktec charge.
They look to be the same if not better quality as well tbh. Not sure on part numbers but if you look on Ktecs website the mounts are for sale on there.

have a butchers at that
Know what you mean to an extent, my ST170 was much more stable at speed. The Clio grips better but the ST170 handled alot better (if you pushed a little too hard it was much more controllable than the Clio which goes all over the show)
Braking hard at speed can cause the car to feel unstable at the back end but that's due to the back end being light, front end being heavier and the weight transfer that takes place during hard braking.
Might be worth getting your tracking and wheel balancing checked?
Im 22 (Male) and pay £800 inc legal protection and my girlfriend on the policy. (Directline)
Was around £740 on my own without legal protection, i paid £960 the year before with Greenlight.
I wouldn't even consider having a 182 at £2400 to insure as your paying out £2400 for something which you...
The mounts are really easy to fit yourself as well, took me no longer than 30mins to do both mounts and it was the first time id ever changed a mount before.
if your brake fluid is low your brake pads are more than likely worn and need replacing.
Id suggest you get them checked out rather than just topping up the fluid as otherwise when you get your pads changed and wind the pistons back brake fluid will spill everywere
ph2 172 is still faster than a 1.2 by a long stretch. ph1 may be lighter but alot of them will be getting a little bit long in the tooth now.
All sarcasm aside i doubt you would be able to tell any difference on the road between a ph1 172 and ph2 172.
New exhausts mounts as well? Are they the CES ones? Just replaced mine with CES mounts, half the cost of Renault ones.
How much did the exhaust cost? Certainly looks well fitted.
Cant comment on the EBC's im afraid as ive never used them. What sort of use are you planning? The stock Renault pads are in my opinion more than upto to the job unless your doing track work.
I can vouch for the Brembo max disks, been pleased with mine. I coupled them with some Ferrodo Premier pads as i wanted something that wasnt like braking on ice when cold. Had them on around 6months now and not had any hint of fade yet.
Your Dad said about that the other day mate, hope you got on ok. Fingers crossed for you anyway.
From what your Dad said sounds like you could be onto something good there. :)
Yup my mpg has dropped from 32ish down to 27/28 so them figures sound about bang on has.
Can also hear the think rattle like mad when the cars first started, once the exhausts warmed up a bit (metal expande) it seems to clear its self up. This could explain the hesitation ive been having just...
