When you clay you need to wet the surface with something slippery to allow the clay to glide. This can be down with a soapy water mixture or Quick Detail Spray (QD)
As long as you use a few layer of EGP before the P21s it's durability won't matter as you say.
Light pressure on the clay, any motion just use plenty of lube, make sure the clay is warm and soft and has a clean face.
SRP cleans and polishes so no need to use any other pre wax cleaner before it. As Riz says it will remove what is already on the piant.
Clasy are all much of a muchness as long as you avoid the aggressive bodyshop ones. Sonus Green or Megs Quik Clay are my usual choices.
I run a snap on cover aswell day to day. Seat still looks as it did from the factory. Not meant to though due to the airbags, though I belive they do make a airbag safe one.
Both are rotary polishers so lack the safety margin of the PC. But in correct hands will produce better results once mastered.
The above just spin, the PC spins and occillates to make doing paint damage with it harder.
