Its not on there, youll need to contact the uk distributer > http://www.q-e-p.co.uk/catcams_camshafts.asphttp://www.q-e-p.co.uk/catcams_camshafts.asp. Theyre cheaper than piper/kent etc and make shafts for lower capacity engines too...
Well the engine im looking at camming, they make camshafts but not a matching vernier pulley according to their application list...i.e do you think theyll have designed their uprated cam around the standard pulley?
16v is wider than RT tho IIRC thats down to the hub. As long as your RT hub shock bolt spacing is the same as the 16v youll get the 16v shock ons and keep your existing track width and not have probs
Question;
catcams do a camshaft for a particular engine but done seem to do a vernier pulley to match. I know you can use the standard pulley on the shaft but what effect will this have on the timing?
Will the camshaft be designed to mathc the standard pulley (i.e. timed in by its design)...
Whats the likely cost of getting a garage to fit;
- a cam to an 8v car?,
- head and cam to an 8v car?
On my old 16v i was about 320 to fit and time in cams but im wondering what the relative cost of doing an 8v is...i assume itll be cheaper due to the simplicity?
Ta!
Daz - yeah, starter turns over, as does the engine.
j3ned - ill check when i get home later about the chassis number (at work right now) and PM you if i may...
ta!
No i havent but ive sold 16v bits to a chap whos done it.
AFAIK the only issue with the break lines will be that theyre the wrong fitment for screwing into the 16v caliper. However, as i said, i havent heard of anyone needing break lines for this...
Yes, i believe it will.
However, i cant see much point since the 1.6s are only 10bhp more. Unless youre wanting to get the MPI setup or will get it done really cheap i would spend the cash elsewhere...i.e headwork/cam/1.8 TB
you dont need the shock at all.
you just need the 16v calipers, 16v caliper carriers, 16v caliper carrier bolts, 16v discs and 16v brake pads.
you maye need 16v brake lines depending upon the fitting on your 1.2 but i havent heard of anyone else having difficulty so you should be fine without.
Small (PMSL) problem ive got with my 1.2 DIET engine which id appreciate any help on;
basically the car will fail to start for at least 5-10mins after having been run yet starts bang on if left for an extended period of time (i.e overnight/all day)
any thought what this could be?
Cheers!
All a lightened flywheel will do will is make the engine rev more freely so pick up will be better....it wont really increase power or reduce transmission lose. Still worthwhile doing if youve got the cash and are messing about in that area anyway.
As for the filter...its sitting in the...
I would rather have the power TBH as usually it means the entire car setup is vastly supeior and will compensate for lesser talent. True, an excellent driver can keep up in a relatively poor car but at the end of the day a well setup car count for so much more.
I seem to remember Frank...
Been down that route and TBH I wouldnt bother again unless yourre having things uprated (i.e cams/headwork etc) as its not worth it. Theres plenty of low milage 16v engines kicking about on the good side of 100k that can be had for a couple of hundred if yours is knackered...
If i had access to a relatively std 16v again and was wanting a project id do;
Williams front track,
Remove the PAS,
Fit 2ltr head (flowed maybe), pullies and 2ltr cams,
With that youd see good gains in all areas at the end, youre not stuck doing "just engine" work over winter and you...
