14.4 @pod is very respectable for a mk2! (well not to the mk1 boys or paddy who ran a 14.4 in a standard 172 IIRC, but the mk2's don't have any of that lightweight rust!!!)
its been on the wire brush machine the lot!
i'm cutting it off later and getting a new one off yozza tomorrow (hopefully! 100mile drive here i come :()
^already done, its had the hammer treatment, the blow torch treatment, the parts washer, WD40, f**king thing! it'll turn freely for 1 turn, and then nada!
i've snapped both H&R spanners, now onto my nice pretty Bilstein ones
the only way i could see that happening is if they were retards and decided to use the donor engine's ecu, but that would be a dumb thing to do as you have to unlock the ecu
i've got one here you could borrow so you can drive it down to the local exhaust place and have one made up
you pay postage and leave me a deposit though! i want it back!!!
epic fail, 2nd hand H&R's onto a 172, i do the backs first, easy! whack on the passenger front and set the approx ride height, easy!
whack on the drivers side, would the platform budge? no f**king chance!
so i now have a clio stuck on my driveway all weekend
riz you're a t**t!
no don't have to touch any of that, you just unhook the engine bay loom, pull the engine and box out, whack the new engine and box in and reconnect the loom, turn the key and you're off
^no it doesn't fella, not on a direct engine swap, the engine itself isn't a computer just a lump of metal, the existing electronics system just "sees" the same as it did before (i mean that in a nice way, not taking the piss if you understand?)
erm what about the loop hole "if its not there it can't be tested?"
i binned the ABS on my car, ripped the lot out, they questioned it at first, but rang the VOSA lot and they said if its fitted it MUST be working, or it can be completely removed
they work fine on 50 and 60's, Schrick actually recommend putting in a 50 or 60 with their cams (i forget which)
yes a cooler is a good idea (thermostatic one)
