Yeah the later Xr2is became 16V 1.8 to meet the new emissions regs in 1992
RS1800 replaced the RS Turbo at the same time.
RS 1800 was a higher specified XR2i 16v, the engine is almost identical, but made 130 brake from a larger throttle body, different cams, and ECU.
They are sensitive the heat reflective windscreen. It should work in the cut out at the bottem off the front screen, mine did but I found it would lose signal and take ages on start up to find satellites. Best of getting and additional antenna for it.
It seems down to individual insurance companys - some seem fine with factory options and dont load you for it. Others just want to make some quick extra bucks. All mine asked was weather it had been altered in anyway from the factory spec.
For a car doing that mileage and living outside that you want to look good but be well protected like Loony say a good polymer sealant is the way.
Autoglym Super Resin Polsih and Extra Gloss Protection sealant is holding up on my daily driver still - applied in October.
