ipod adaptor for tuner list radio in my cup.

Car  RenaultSport clio 172 cup
whats the best adaptor? i dont wanna use one where it uses radio waves as reception around my are is a bit crap, and i aint too keen on drilling holes left right and center so what option should i go for?

im going the Ipod route but cant be arsed with having to touch the iPod. Im buying an "iPod/pioneer box" which plugs into the back of the Headunit and into the ipod, then hide the ipod away. You can then control the ipod from your head unit just like if you were seaching a CD.. bout £50

that ipod-pioneer box is awesome (obviously only if you have a pioneer hu that supports it)

fitted it in my brothers meggy cabriolet

can control everything from the HU, easy to install.

I've got the iPod Pioneer adaptor in my Clio and it's really good. Only cost £50.00 from Halfords and is so much better than the radio adaptors you can buy. I've also got the Griffin iPod adaptor which I no longer use and bought it off Ebay with a car charger for about £25.00 delivered from Canada.

In fairness, the radio adaptors are okay, given that they can be used with your existing head unit, but the sound quality is noticeably better with a proper adaptor like the Alpine of Pioneer ones.

If you get the Dension ones meant for the Renault headunit they plug into the existing cd changer port on the factory head unit aswell.

Denison do a universal FM radio one, dont get this one.

I have the Denison ice link plus in my 172 cup too.. plugged into the renault HU, works a treat, am well pleased with it.

Yeah, another vote for the Dension here! It should only take you about 30 mins to fit, works with the steering wheel controls and is a top bit of kit!

I was told that the std cd player in my 172 cup doesnt have a cd changer port and a fm one would have to be used!

So thats what ive got. Why is it not as good? It hasnt been installed yet though so i could return it.

They still havent sourced the dash clip for it after 1 1/2 months!

who told you it doesn't have the cd changer socket?... not them cowboys at halfrauds again is it... lol

I'm not sure what the FM modulators are like to be honest, i'm sure the quality won't be quite as good as it's fitted between your aerial & HU rather than plugging directly in.
Also can you control anything on the iPod with that??? the ice link plus allows you to control playlists and stuff from the stalk controls/stereo controls.
but then it is quite a bit cheaper isn't it.

Its annoying Halfords only sell the FM ones!

FM modulators will only ever get radio quality, as the go through the tuner. For higher cd quality you need the other model.

I didnt bother with the dash clip, just went for the dock cable and have fed that into the glove box.

I'm the same as you r-jay, got the dock cable fed into the glovebox & all is well.. got the pod in one of those 'skin' things so it doesn't slide around.
spot on
