16-03-2014 - 64 Days to Bedford
Progress has been slow, but last couple of weekends I've actually made some progress, and took some pictures! :)
couple of weekends ago I stripped down the front end and fitted the quaiffe gearbox with a little help from some friends :)
I also sent some parts...
don't agree, they look like they are made that height, both the pigtails are there as they should be, they just seem very low quality and ludicrously low
they just look bent to me, guessing they have so few coils in them that they have simply given up under load
buy a cheap set of standard springs from the classifieds, they are very easy to change with basic tools, don't even need spring compressors to do the job on a 1*2
nice work chap, about time all the niggles got sorted too so you can just enjoy it
give me a shout if your up this way again soon, I'd love another blat out chap now its sorted :)
as above, cooksports are great but not on potholed roads, I have gone from them to sportlines and the ride quality is much improved
however I feel the car handled (on decent roads) better on the cooksports and it also looked better.
ai, give KJ @ voodoo a shout, knows his mk1 ecu shizzle.
theres a set of cat cams 225 cams and vernier pullies for sale on clio16valver.co.uk and mikes put them on ebay as well, pop them in first, map it, should see around 170bhp at a push with that
I like that, even the exhaust looks good as its not trying to be a 182 so much as inspired by a 182
good work on cleaning it up as well, looked a right state when you bought it inside/engine bay.
roflcopter, that's a 10 pointer right there
Sam - good video imo, I was expecting worse as I read some of the 'negatron' comments first but it kept me watching for 5 minutes, nice work :)
nah you wouldn't, ime cooksports ride best of the 'lows' apex and Pi are awful, cheap coilovers are just as bad really (as in sub 1K).
the eibachs are perfect for a daily I'd say, as said the ride is pretty blummin good and if anything better than stock and you still get a bit of low. however...
cheers folks
Luke - tough ;)
Thomas - lol, didn't spot the sig, I need to spend more time in lighroom, all my presets are massively underexposed on the adjustments too :o
and the cooksports I got a decent resale price for and always wanted to try the eibachs. verdict is they ride...
Sportlines, Turinis, RS192.........all the fave's...............heck even the livestock in the pics agree ;)
enjoy

usually overspill from oil fill up / top up, wouldn't worry unless it excessive and across all 4. (usually one closest to oil filler cap that suffers worst
