The warranty really is worthwhile as both units I've owned developed strange faults related to the seating of them into the incar cradle. If you have the warranty then you can probably get a straight swap for a brand new unit, as I have done in the past.
Serial number would be your best bet as you could phone and check that the unit is ok to buy. Having said that you've no guarantee that's the actual unit you'll receive. Buy from someone with a proven feedback history.
I'd recomment the MicroGO or the RA Compact. Both will do an adequate job and cost the same price new. MicroGO is slightly more compact and styled better.
Exactly the reason why I'd recommend the B2 :)
The same works in reverse, if the temp camera is removed the B2 is usually updated almost instantly whereas the other makes can often have these locations for a long time.
Out of them all the Origin B2 does offer the best features and database accuracy. I've never known it to be wrong and if updated often it usually knows the location of newly installed roadworks cameras, the other manufacturers never do seem to be as good at keeping their systems updated.
Good to see they are taking this step. I spoke with them during December and they told me they had no plans to offer this feature as an update to the RA2, I was told only the Compact and future models would have this feature. Nice to see they've had a change of heart.
Macca if you phone them they'll arrange all for you. They send out the new unit and then you have 7 days to return your trade-in to them. Great service and one I'd recommend. I'm buying my 3rd B2 from them next week and trading in my MicroGO.
Trade-in your RA2 here and get the RA Navigator for £249 (£200 trade-in offer)

I use this company all of the time and have never had any problems with them.
I had read that the Indago is a better product and can be bought for £299 with your trade-in.
The standard RA is not very good as it does not display the relevant speed for the approaching speed camera, they ammended this with the RA Compact. Roadpilot MicroGO and Origin B2 both display the speed of the speed trap zone you are approaching.
The car seems to be selling well below the price most dealers are selling 172s for at the moment. 2002 cars with 35k miles were selling for between £7300-£7999, I was surprised at how cheap I got my 172 at so you've done well to find another so cheap. If it's an import then it's probably priced...
I'd recommend you get alot of those faults fixed under the warranty Mark.
I do have RenaultSport scuff plates on the inside of the sill, that's one thing my import did come with as standard :D
Like I said in my thread, I'm not bothered at all that the car is an import but with the dealers inaccuracy concerning it. Thankfully all resolved now :)
None of those faults listed put me off buying a 172 either, the car really does make you smile while driving it :) If you can find one in...
I've just bought a 172 that's done 33k miles and the dealer serviced it before collection. If you are buying from the trade then they really all should be offering the same, buying private then the cost will be a factor to remember. Thankfully it's not a major service.
Welcome to the forum :)
Same here Chris :( It was a great little car and even though I got rid of it a year ago I still miss it. Had three cars since then, the 172 is the most recent and was collected last saturday.
