I only just discovered that a proper quick flash of the lights was possible while investigating them in my car tonight :D I have also been rudely blinding people while trying to flash the lights at them. I'll get used to it though cause I like to use the auto mode, I'm lazy like that :D
Curiosity got the better of me and I went and checked. I've discovered that I can do a proper quick flash of the lights so long as I do not use auto headlights, when not using these the light stalk needs to be pulled back to a 2nd position where it clicks into place. When using auto headlights...
Can't say I've ever flashed the lights at another RS owner. I find the flash system rubbish on my 172 as it's impossible to do a quick flash of the lights, you've got to turn main beam on then off again, are they all like that? My mum's 1.2 clio isn't like this.
If anyone in a Clio flashed or...
I think it will take the form of a replacement memory card for the TT One and will hopefully upgrade the software to Navigator 6.
TT usually offer a very fair upgrade path.
New software will be announced for the TomTom range within the next few weeks and it's also possible that they will now be using Navteq maps rather than TeleAtlas which will improve accuracy. One way streets also seem to be the stumbling block with TT in Glasgow, I tried a Garmin product using...
Newer sat nav devices have Sirf III chipset gps receivers which perform brilliantly even in cars with heat reflective windshields. The older types as found in most gps speed cam detectors are nowhere near as good.
It's fitted and all appears to be ok with the car for now :D
The installer has refitted the A pillar covering on the passenger side better than it was originally fitted when I bought it :)
I'm averaging 35mpg according to the trip computer. I filled the car last week and after 305 miles the empty light has lit up, strangely the car claims to only have used 9 gallons of petrol.
I had the Clifford alarm in a previous car and it was very good, I did disable the anti carjacking option though as I often found myself caught out by it after someone had got out of the car :D
The Viper has a similar option but allows you to arm it when you will be away from the car for an...
The alarm is due to be fitted tomorrow, a Viper system with a pager type keyfob which has a quarter mile range. Informs you if the alarm has been triggered etc.
I can get the Alpine 9848 for £109 (rrp £149.99) which has aux inputs available for my mp3 player. Is this likely to be a good quality unit in comparison to the 172s standard HU?
If so I'll buy that and use the leftover cash for my other venture :)
I reckon I may buy a Garmin Nuvi 300 rather than a Snooper Indago or RA Navigator as I can get this for £329 and use the speed cam database which is provided online for either £2 per month or £19 per year.
This way I'm getting top class sat nav and a very reliable cam database for alot cheaper...
You get a brand new one Steve.
I'm actually considering cancelling my purchase of a Origin B2 and buying either the RA Navigator or the Snooper Indago instead. Has, do you have any comments regarding these two units?
I'm planning on buying a replacement HU for my 172 and am looking for advice on what is a good choice around the £200 price range, stretching to £250 if needed.
I'd ideally like something that provides an aux input for my I-River mp3 player.
I had considered the Pioneer Bluetooth HU for...
You've got to decide if you are saving enough in the purchase to warrant losing out on the warranty. Do you have any guarantee that the unit has never been used as if it has then you may well still need to purchase a subscription for the service?
:) Thanks Simon I'm delighted with the car and I'm now having a look for a new stereo for it, selling my Blaupunkt DAB53 as I quite fancy a change of HU.
Alarm will be fitted next week, opted for a Viper system :)
