Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Yup its on a switched live. Ive had my hand on the pump on cranking and im sure its running - although its hard to tell with the amount everything vibrates. It was stood all last night and started first time on the key this morning, yet other times it takes...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
I had thought of that, but infortunately ive not got a spare one anymore. Might be worth trying..
Possibly could be, Il check it next time it does it. Ive got a spare fuel pump I could swap to for testing it anyway, we shall see.
I tried to get a video...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Another week off? lol
Only ECU and crank sensor to try really, its 100% not the relays. Problem is it will only do it after its been sat for 15-20 mins, so its just a matter of waiting around...
It will just end up moving your whole exhaust system and putting stress on stuff.
Its not too bad on mine with 5 engine mounts, as there is virtually no engine movement. I use solid bolts, but then again I have a flexi joint on my downpipe that I added in just before it joins the center section...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Got a handful of relays yesterday - including trying some off a known working car today (1.2 16v Mk2). The car eventually runs with them all, but it takes alot of playing round with ignition off/on as it did anyway - so I think its nothing to do with the...
Around and about last night, the steering problems OK now?
Are you going to replace the 1.2 center section to match the engine? Will be strangling the F4R :(
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Yeah, im hoping its a sticky relay as im bored of fault finding. Its been fine for 4-5months, and just out of the blue this happens once again.
Got a couple of spare relays im going to swap to later, hopefully the problem will go away. My fuel pump even runs...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Lol, oh dear.
Well f*ck knows what it was doing. Hammered it earlier, left it for about 20 minutes then it started first time. Who knows :(
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
It will only start first time if its straight after its already been running...
It wont start at all now unless you do the 'on off' thing twice, then start it..
What do you mean?
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Yeah ive seen it move on cranking in the past, Matteh said his did too. Il check when I go back out. Hmmmmm.
Thing is, the 'twice - on off' trick works every time which is the odd thing!
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Isnt the Immo (injector/coilpack release) a different relay to the fuel pump/ECU relay? Im hoping swaping them round will change something, ive got a load of spares somewhere but it was p*ssing down earlier so didnt bother looking..
Im pretty much 100%...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
The gremlins are back - intermittent starting problems now!
Over the past few days ive gone to start it and had nothing on the key, not even cranking from the starter motor. Quick tap of the solenoid and try again it usually fires up. No idea why as the...
Its a green plastic block clipped into the front of the clutch pedal mounting, you'l see it straight away.
Push the pedal down, take it out, let the pedal up slowly and you will hear the ratchet click a few times, let go of it completely then... Trim the green block on the flat side by a few...
If it was a LET the corsa would win quite easily I would think..
I had a cam'd valver (1.8) and could get away from my mates XE Corsa quite easily without any effort
About 15-20 pages from the back there is a diagram of the clocks, with all the pins of the connectors listed. They are all labelled with single letters.. Find the rev counter/tacho one and see what connector/pin it refers to on the diagram above it, then you can find it on the car - should be...
Coolant temp gauge working?
I usually fill the system up, run it for 5-10mins and keep an eye on the gauge. Turn it off, then take the bleed screw out, when water starts coming out I put it back in and top the header tank up to suit. I then run it for 10min+ until the thermostat opens and you...
Ive not got my Haynes manual to hand, I can check tomorrow if you have not found out by then. Easy with that as its listed in the wiring diagrams in there!
