Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project turned out to be £175 extra was the difference to do a full rebuild of bottom end, inc rings.....but 1. this was available, 2. 5 miles down the road, 3. 172 ph2 that had 30k on it....4. was fine when checked the mains and turned over, we shall see lol

Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project yeah I do have the valver, but its not as fun as the other to drive, and im wasting money taxing it which i had to do last month, need my other one on the road by the end of this month ideally so i can claim 5 months back....rather than having to tax both cars in april...

Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project block on stand no head in garage, whipped the caps off the mains and they were fine, turned it over was 100x's easier than the other... neither of the blocks ive got have this :S

Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project Ok, dosent match, 063410 is the engine i have (if thats the engine number in the pic) ...Which leads me to believe that this engine was originally in the guys car, hes fooked it then bought a replacement, and sold this one... Martin, can you search for the engine...

£50+Postage for the service ;) I think mine was from an old 6 series, massive thing where the bonnet opens like a Mk1 clio....but quite a lot of the old ones have them apparently, not sure where Burp got his from.....local scrapyard hunting required!

Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project Whats the chances of having to replace rings if the pistons are taken out? Or is it just a wait and see if they are knackered or not (can it be physically seen if there is damage or not?) What sort of money am I looking at for new rings elsewhere on average if that is...

you can get a battery terminal off a BMW, old school one, look in burps or my thread.... Goes nicely in the bay and lets all the positives connect at one tidy point.... Ryan keeps mithering me to get another one from the scrapyard for him.....meh!

when i had some time searching about it on here the general feeling from quite a few people was the standard ones are prone to cracking if they are lightened

Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project Right....all bearings and oil pump removed... Crank scoring... Crank removed... The crank itself... The main cap's for the crank... Now the rods with the shells removed... Maybe the culprit....thrust...

Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project ahhh right....well i took the shell/bearing out of the rod and it was the same as the rest, not scored/marked in any way, its just the internal (crank) side of the bearing....
