How much oild did you lose? It's normal for oil to leak out if you pull the driveshaft out, as long as you didn't lose loads I wouldn't worry. If a substantial amount leaked then it wants topping up.

The gearbox issue is definately not unique to the 197! Plenty of low mileage 200s have had them replaced too. It seems very random. My 65k R27 has no gearbox issues and arguably has less 'issues' than a lot of cars with much lower miles. Moral of the story is don't be scared of something with...

Wouldn't you just measure it on the coilover? If you want to drop 2" then wind the platform down 2"? Or am I over simplifying it?

The fronts just push in mate, the rears need winding. You'll want a decent punch to knock the retaining pins out.

Have you had the car checked over? It is possible that more damage has been done than meets the eye remember. You don't want to settle for a new bumper only to find in 6 months time that the floor pan has taken a whack.
