Updates.
Gtt is sold! The time was right, as not used it in 3 years and had no real plans to use it with the Trophy added to the collection.
A few pics of it all cleaned up for the memories.
Bought this ex cup racer suite from 1986 last week from Vinted, cost a few quid but had to have it, and...
Im sure oem were a bit dearer than that when i looked, id go oem as nothing in it.
Autodoc have gone up in price too, i looked and i paid £60 delivered.
Them 200 engines chuck rods and drop valves. Cant say they are more reliable mate.
In arguement me and a mate have both ran 280+ hp for years in the megs and not had issues, trackdays the lot. My mrs 225 was tuned when we got it albeit badly and its done 25k in our ownership mapped to the limit...
No doubt the aftermarket will cover the parts especially china. Whether you will be actually be allowed to fit it as a non competent person and info is available on how to do it who knows.
Im certainly not frightened with fixing electronics but some stuff will be quite complex compared to a...
I can see EV being very expensive to fix if something goes wrong with the battery, charging system or battery pack, going on the current ones. Will most likely end up being disposable cars after a handful of years. Wont be worth buying outright, just rent and get a new one when its knackered...
Sorting the s**t out
So with the car at ours, next step was to clear out Steve's parts garages. Steve had said i had to clear everything (take the f**king lot or not at all) and as we are renault parts hoarders that was not an issue. Id be needing bits and bobs out of this lot whilst building...
Mild cut with a da and compound cleans them up well, just like polishing a headlamp. I scratched mine by accident and recovered it in a couple of steady passes.
Glad its gone to a good home and sorted the cooling issues mate. The alloy rads work well as same style as oem with lots of small bars compared to the aftermarket larger bars and less of them which are not as efficient.
Go 20t with a larger exhaust wheel. Will get loads more bang for your buck...
Need airbag ecu in so you can program it to turn the lights off. Its easy enough to reinstall on the canbus if needs be.
Failing that its tape over the airbag light and track car spec mot to suit
Stage 1 map done. Driveway flash on mpps ;)
Picks up a bit better, less diesel knock and a little more black smoke once rpm is up. Not bad for £25, goes as well as the orange dci which makes me think thats been flashed before as it was always a lot better.
Hopefully next post wont be...
Ive just put a new one on this but may be interested. Will need to wait until payday as ive rinsed loads of money this month.
Trade spec stage 1 map/ bin file is ready to flash tomorrow with my ching spec mpps v18 clone. Its going to be fast as f**k
They are great cars for a daily...
The damping is excellent on the Ast's, id be happy using this for daily driving. This is really good with solid bushes and solid top mounts on 70nm springs all round with damping set relatively soft for road use, not crash bang just rides the bumps nice.
The Bilstein b14s are nice on the clio's...
Its happening. Just wondering how the 150k fuel system will like it  ive got a dci100 intercooler and pipework stashed in the garage might fit that too
Done a bit of b road blasting in the Kangoo last week as had to pop over to North Yorkshire to pick up some fitted oem Renault mats for it, so took advantage of the good weather and great roads.
The Ast 5100 suspension is phenominal, perfect balance of compliance and handling, combined with...
Messing about with mpps reading the ecu file on the blue dci yesterday. Been offered a cheap flash map and tempted to give it a shot. Is it wise or will it end up in tears!?
December 2020 - This is where we come into it.
So we have shook and agreed a price on T.Trophy. Im still unsure whether the sale will go through as can tell Steve is not 100% sure if he wants to sell, and totally understand as its a large decision to make after owning the car since new. My head...
Cheers Jon. I thought it would be nice to fill in the blanks in the thread before it all gets a bit hazy.
It was indeed a bit of a step taking another large project on whilst building the Kangoo and progress was slow until i got that more or less finished. I think you were the only person to...
2019
Slight diversion but bear with it as it all fits together in the end.
The years of sales. I move the old Kangoo 172 on to a new owner after CSF 2019. Come to the conclusion that it was a nice little thing and quirky but not fast enough. Steve H said to me when i bought it, that i would be...
I have the 3/8 milwaukee m12 fuel ratchet. The extended reach of the 3/8 is f**king epic for undoing a bolt thats balls deep in the engine bay if you can get it in. Its a good bit of kit, but you need to be careful not to overtighten small fixings with it.
On the larger stuff, m8 and up its...
