Is it possible to modify an ESP bell housing to accomodate a non ESP speedo drive?

I am have bent the rear beam/trailing arm again on my 172. This time I have decided to reinforce the arms so this deosn't happen as regulary. Has anyone done this and suggest where the strengthening is required. I would assume extra fillets on the sub axle mount plates would be a must.
