totally agree, can't see the point of them for everyday cars (ie not ones modded for shows) yes, it protects the paintwork, but it looks s**t and if u never gonna take it off, whats the point? a silly imported idea from america in my opinion (like a lot of american things, supersize, compo...
bit of a bumpety bump, gave it a bit of a service (new plugs oil and air filter) and i checked my ht leads at the same time. they've been renewed at some point cos they're halfords brand, look in good nick, however, one wasn't properly connected to the distributor cap, i don't know if it was...
cheers, i'll give it a look tomorrow. gonna do the plugs and oil, may as well do the ht leads aswell, needs a service.
do you know roughly where the air in is, the area after the sensor? i'm just looking at the hot and cold air feeds?
Now then,
When i got home from work yesterday my mk1 seemed to be a bit lumpy with it was idling, revving a bit higher than it normally does when its got warmed up, around 1200/1300. usually idles at 900 when warm. wasn't like it this morning, but was when i got home. seems to make the car...
only problem there is if the air is moist as well as cold (like when it's gonna be frosty) when u put your heaters on in the morning u'll get s**t loads of condensation
bloody hell. well, looks like it'll have to be done. had a good read of it in the haynes, its got about 3 'simply' bits, which then refer you to a different section. itslike bloody 3 jobs in one this! i hope she appreciates it!
there's other odd things mentioned, well odd when u 1st read it, like taking out the dipstick or oil filler cap. obviously these get in the way of removing som heat shields etc, but draining the coolant? coolant shouldn't be flowing any where near the manifold, or at least, not like its gonna...
its not getting the part or fitting it thats any trouble to me, can do that piss, its just the haynes saying i've got to drain the coolant 1st before i take the exhaust manifold off, doesn't make any sense to me, never done it on any other car i've worked on
Now then,
not entirely clio related, but stick with me. a friend of mine has asked me to replace the exhaust manifold on her w reg corsa (she says it's a 1.2, when i got a vauxhall parts department to check off her reg, he said it was a 1ltr, anyway) being a good boy i thought i'd get the...
use the path tool to draw round the car, once done with the path tool selected right click and make selection. shift+ctrl+i to invert the selection, shift+ctrl+u to desaturate the background
a mate of mine wrote 'jesus' and 'sad rich' all over the inside of the windows when they were steamed up (ahem).
just cos it was winter mind, she's already taken ;)
mask it off, sand down with increasingly fine papers to get a smooth finish, prime, smooth again between coats of primer. spray colour layers, again, fine sanding between coats. can get paints from most motor places, get your paint code off the vin plate. finish with a few coats of clear laquer...
i think the best solution is to find the little f**kers, beat their heads on the pavement then run back and forth over them.
won't do owt for your paint work but it'll make you feel better :)
yeah, don't plan anything over the top. clear indicators/side repeaters are always a good starting point, and mk2 ph2, rears if urs is a ph1, then stuff like colour coding, debadging etc. all relatively cheap and won't f**k you on ur 1st years cover. think about what it'll do to your insurance...
