I'd strongly recc the DLS components,

Both leads certainly DO need connecting.
The yellow is the main power, this Runs the unit and keeps it's memory when switched off.
The Black lead is the earth and will need connecting to a decent earth point on the chassis, There should be some where nearby under the dash for this.

I own my own car audio centre in Lowestoft, and also supply the Type R owners club / forum with all their ICE equip, so i can advise the correct equip for you and you needs as i have alot of knowledge and experience.
There is a big selection out there and amongst them is some cracking...
If you put up a volentry excess of £2-5k then that should bring the price down.
It shows you have confidence and they will get you to sign for it.
Try it should work.
Obviously the higher the excess the lower the premium.

1 - Your power cable is thick enough,
If it is to thin it wont be able to deliver enough power to each am, it will get hot and possibly melt the insulation causing obvious damage,
2 - You amp has pass out,
