Talking about excess back pressure.. Unfortunate guy with a AX GT. Surprising how much damage an un ripe banana can cause ! He wished he hadn't gone to Quick Fit !
If the inside of the cat has fell to bits, surely the pressure and heat of drivin it hard, will either push it out the tail pipe or,the exhaust will blow out somewhere?
When this happened to my 172 it didn't take very long to clear. DIY Stealth Decat!
Mine ended up coming out the tail pipe. Had no problems since. While it was comin to bits the car ran badly, lost a lot of power and wouldn't tick over steadly.
Again i'm pleased i read this. I would have been a bit surprised to say the least if i'd have got down there n found no key !
I can see how doing it as you've said is the way to evenly distribute the tension throughout the belt....nice one
I'm plannin on doin mine soon, pleased i read this. Didn't even considered doing this.
Let my get this right, with the cam tails locked (with the jig) and the btm end pinned. You slacken the cam pulley fixing bolts to allow the pulleys to move independantly of the locked camshafts ?
How are the...
Exactly right mate. ;)
I've been looking for info on a Cam belt change, n its just a series of debates on weather it's worth paying one guy £300 to do it, or another guy £350. I'll tell you what i've noticed though, all the cam belt fails i've read about on RS clios, apart from one caused by the...
Its not hard once you get stuck in. I know the first time you open them manuals it all looks a bit alien but it soon becomes clearer the more you do.
It doesn't take long to figure out that the majority of people are getting taken for a ride when it come to repairs/servicing. Havn't you noticed...
It doesn't matter if you look like a knob if nobody can see ya !
Good security feature though,it takes a very comitted TWOKer to get through the glass and film to nick ya raybans,on the frontstreet. I wish i'd had mine tinted before it got ransacked.
Why does nobody want to work on there cars anymore ?
If we'd have had access to this amazing tool, "The on-line forum" 15-20 years ago, it would have been full of useful infomation and advice from people doing all sorts of work on their R5s 205s etc.
These days it seems like most of my fellow...
I need a replacement driveshaft for a 2003 cup, o/s.
I've seen one on ebay that's listed as off a 2001 172. The inner c/v carrier to gearbox connection looks different to mine. The splined sleeve that fits onto the gearbox output shaft looks longer than mine. Is this off a ph1 clioII ? Are the...
Been involved in an accident that isnt your fault can be a bonus, cash wise that is ?
If your car is repairable that is. As you know insurance companies rip us off all the time.
Well main dealers/body shops do the same back to the ins co's when they quote for the repair. It's very easy for a car...
Yeah ? I see you have one of the best H-Hatches ever made (Except the 309!) so you must know what you're on about !
Seriously though, you don't need to pull the motor ? I can't remember where i heard that. I think i might of assumed it when i'd asked, out of curiosity, how much the Dealer would...
My o/s cv joint is knackered. The ball bearing carrier cage has smashed, but the rest of the driveshaft's ok. (I'll explain later how n why, if you're intrested)
I can't see a o/s shaft for sale (used) only a n/s, thought i could use the joint off one of them ?
I'm skint to say the least, just...
I know this might be a silly question, (obvious answer) but are the OUTER cv joints the same on both the o/s and n/s ?
Can i fit a n/s (outer) joint on to a o/s driveshaft ?
