I live in Surrey and Wilsons Renault in Epsom just quoted 830 just for the cambelt change!!!!
Thanks all.

When i replaced (or had replaced!!) the pedal i had the cable done at the same time as it had somehow been crimped. Should have put that.
You should be able to test the cable by findind it (look at the top of the clutch pedal and pulling it. Tension indicates it is ok, but worth taking it out...
Could be the clutch pedal itself, it has a self adjusting mechanism at the top of the pedal and the plastic teeth could have worn meaning they no longer grip on each other causing (possibly) the spring which created the tension in the pedal and the cable itself to become unhooked.
If it is...
the car was serviced in Feb, so think the plugs were done then. The HT leads were done 2 years ago.
The car is fine after about 30 seconds. Should i check all the plugs?
My valver has started misfiring in the mornings when i take it out. lasts for between 5 and 30 seconds so presume this is damp somewhere - and is sorted by the warming of the engine.
Any ideas on what to do / where to look to fix it?
Thanks v much

Make up a story about claiming on the Insurance and neding to report it to the police as part of the claim - to substantiate the 'no fault' bit. Tell her they asked if there were any witnesses and that of course you said the neighbour.
she will s**t it and probaly own up. If not not worth it...
isn't there something in UK Law about being a 'knowledgeable party' wherebuy if you buy a car from a garage, and it makes a funny noise when you buy it. The seller (knowledgeable party) says it is supposed to make that noise and you buy it on that basis, you have grounds to seek compensation...
i am very interested in this as have to do it on my valver i rekon
I thinkl my ratchet thing is on the way out as sometimes i put my foot on the clutch pedal and it hits the floor (no tension at all) so think the teeth are worn
is it a job a novice can do fairly easily?
how long should it take a mechanic to replace the off side outer and near side inner CV boots?
was told about an hour and a hlaf plus parts.
sound about right?????
Cheers

does that mean if you p**s about looking at insurance for a ferari and then actually buy a 1.2 clio they will charge you ferari insurance because they think you lied about what car you are insuring??? Go figure!!!
if i ever have an accident i will make sure i do a few quotes where i have not...
I know it has probably been asked a million times, but i had a 20 point check done by renault on my valver (foc) and they noted that one cv boot was cracked and one leaking grease. for a technically inept person like me, what does this mean?
How bad is it? What are the consequences of leaving...
never been in another valver! Tis a shame i know.
But have any other valver drivers actually had to replace the clutch pedal (because the plastic teeth that make up the self tightening thingy have worn down so it doesn't work?)
Cheers
Anyone in surrey (Epsom) have a valver i can use as a...
replaced the full cdlutch pedal assembly (it was the self tightening mechanism thingy (apologies for the technical description!!!) that went, meaning when the clutch pedal was pushed down fully the clutch was not dis-engaged) and the clutch cable was replaced at the same time.
The clutch has...
had to replace your clutch pedal?
Boring question i know but mine went about a year and a half ago and think it is on the way out again. A number of people (including renault mechanic) have remarked that i have a 'heavy' clutch, and it does take more effort than most cars i have ever driven...
Cause of my ABS warning light on my Valver to be permentaly on now. The only thing i can think i may have done would be to knock a sensor or wire or something when i washed the wheels with a giant bottle brush thing.
Cheers
