Does anyone know what benefits/downsides to having 195/45/16 on back of my car and 195/40/16 on front? Got to change my tyres and dont want 45s on front as will change the gear ratios and slow car down but have two spare 45s which could go on back, trying to save myself money. Which 195/40s are...
I would go for the cup mate if you want a big performance increase the cup is about the same as the vts to 40 and then it flies and easily outperforms most cars. It even has a better 0-100 than a scooby wrx. The standard 172 is fast as well but most of them only get the same quarter mile times...

The vts is supposed to be like that yeah but the 106 is not the same, the steering and the weight distribution are different. This is only what evo tested anyway maybe the willy is just as good.

Quarter mile rivals just go by the manufacturers claims they dont even test the cars. They say 106 gti is 16.5 and its exactly the same as a vts, i got 15.5 in my standard gti b4 zorst and induction kit went on.

I founnd the uniroyal rainsports were good grippy tyres better than my dunlops sp9000 which i have on at the moment. They probably wont be as good as the rainsports tho cos the profile is 40 so there is less tyre wall
Its best to change just before the limiter cos otherwise you wont be going any faster, 3rd gear can only do around 88-90mph so if you dont change to 4th you wont cross the line at say 93mph and get a higher quarter mile time as 3rd is not geared to do any more

I am going to try that one mate even if they dont pay the full whack they can at least meet me half way and if they are not willing to do that il send the deposit back and sell it for more to the next buyer with a receipt of a brand new box. Thanks for your advice

The car is already sold mate! this is why i need to do it quick as the people want to pick it up next week if i mess them around they might drop out and then i will have to readvertise. I probably will put a new box in anyway cos a rebuild doesnt seem much cheaper.

No i havent got a haynes manual, im hoping it was just a one off today and it will be normal again 2moro. The idle wasnt that bad it didnt cut out or anything so it may be ok next time. Thanks 4 ur response il keep you posted

I put some semi-synthetic oil in my clio williams just to top it up as it was low, cant remember what went in it b4 and the car is now idling funny like revving on its own. Could this be because the oil b4 was non-synthetic or fully synthetic? What should i do now? Can it cause any damage?
Tested my 106 gti last night, got a crap start with wheelspin up to near 5000 revs with 2 people in and recorded the 0-100 at 17.03 so reckon i could equal yours with practice. I think these french cars have very inaccurate speedos but like you say they are rapid for a 1.6.
Why check the adjustment on the gear change linkage? How do you do this? So you dont think the gearbox itself is shagged? How much do gearbox dog bones cost?

My mates clio willy pops out of gear just before it reaches 6000 revs in first and second gear. Has any1 else experienced this? What do you think the problem could be?
