Im from OZ too.. I had my Viper on for a year now, no problems.. Check out the AFR readings from the dyno. Youll noticed it was starting to run more rich on the top end.

In Australia its measured in Kw(ISO) therefore 172s have 124kw.
Ive seen some RR results of the 172s here.. So far the range is from 81kw to 85kw(in 4th gear) ATW for the standard car. Thats approximately a 30% drive train lose. I dont understand how some of you guys achieved a RR of 130bhp+...
Baboo: Yep Im in Oz.. If youre in Sydney I could help you but I dont think you are..
Chris172: Last time I checked, the air valve doesnt seem to be linked to the ECU. No sensors or wires are attached to it.. So I just took it off. Can anyone else clarify for us if this is safe?
Great pics. :)
I think if you extend the inlet tube and pick up air below/infront of your car would give better performance gains. You need to take off your bumper to remove the air valve behind the light so you can rout the inlet tube down the wheel arch. Heres some of my Viper install pics...
If you dont have the switch, you most likely havent got ESP.
I switch ESP off most of the time when Im driving, but it defaults to ON every time your car starts up... Annoying...
I purchased it along time ago. Very easy to setup, plugs into your cigarette lighter power source and you need to calibrate it.
Its measure acceration differently to the AP22, uses G-Forces instead.

Got a new digital camera.. Timed my 0-100km/h (0-62 mph) with a Gtech. Very happy with my time.. :D

I live in Australia and Air Con is a must! It gets quite hot down here during summer and my car color is black so it absorbs alot of heat. Fitting a Viper made all the difference! :D
I found it amusing reading through this post. I cant see the problem with Air Con being an option for the Cup...
Ive already installed a Viper myself. What I couldnt do was rout the inlet tube through the hole(which Paul did) because I found the diamater too small.
Have a look at these two articles. Very good explanation of Torque versue Power and what is required for fast acceleration.

Ive heard surprising good results with Unichip however 172Bhp at the wheels? Thats hard to believe since it only piggy backs the existing ECU. I think a more realistic figure would be around the 136Bhp ATW mark.
Good thing that the Unichips are easily removed and you can use it on another car..
Dont want to drill holes, just merge two air tubes coming out of the airbox and use a single duct for cooler air... I wish i had the CUP airbox, much easier job!!
The factory airbox seems just fine for the 172, I cant see why anyone would want to replace it with an induction kit! It can be improved however, by picking up cold air from the fog light. The two small tubes coming out of the airbox will need to be merged into a larger one which is customized...
