Sliding into a kerb often puts large forces down the track rod into the steering rack. If you're still having issues after changing the stuff you've already ordered it may be damage to the rack itself.
Exactly the same happened to mine when the coolant temp sensor failed. If memory serves its a bit lower than the part circled in the picture but the same area (ish), right near the thermostat.
Pretty sure you have to take the wipers off to remove scuttle panel. I had to go and buy a tool to remove them.
Google 'wiper puller', they are relatively cheap.
Just read the thread I made at the time when I was trying to find the problem,
Forgot to mention in the previous post it was also stuttering under full throttle.
It started off being difficult to start when it was hot. Progressively got worse and after a while noticed temp guage would randomly drop occasionally for a few seconds. (That also got more noticeable over time) Eventually it started cutting out on low revs. It would then run fine for a while if...
Post three of the thread below has the cts labelled if you're having trouble locating it.

When my 182 had a hot start problem I replaced the coolant temp sensor and that fixed it. Was obvious on mine as temp guage would shoot up and down occasionally when the car was up to temp. May be worth a try as part was cheap and easy to replace.
Yer I thought you would have, popped round Monday to see if i could buy one as I was over your way but missed you.
Finally all back together now and actually quiet again. Didn't realize quite how noisy the old bearing was until it was replaced.
Cheers!
Thanks for the replies,
I'll get a new bearing and some sandpaper tonight and give it another go. it looked pretty clean for the most part but there were a few small spots of rust on it.
Thinking I should have just taken it to Fred originally! its now been off the road 4 days due to having to...
Yesterday I attempted to change my rear brake discs and pads, the passenger side was easy enough but on the drivers side I could not get the disc on. I tried two different discs in case it was a tolerance issue with the disc but had no luck. It would go on about 2-4mm and then get stuck and not...
Quick update for anyone searching with similar issues:
coolant temp sensor was replaced about two weeks ago, and it now runs fine. I've since found out that if the ECU thinks the engine is cold it will run rich. This would cause the fault reading on lambda sensor, and cause the engine to cut...
No idea if i'm honest, was over at BTM getting an exhaust fitted, mentioned the problem and he plugged it in and showed me the faults. I put the new coolant temp sensor in today and so far it seems to be running fine. completely agree about not throwing money at it but part was only £17. If the...
cheers, when faults first started diagnostics said the only problem was the 1st lambda but that was when problems weren't so severe. Got a new coolant temp sensor coming tomorrow, so will clean up the TDC sensor while i have airbox out as I've seen a few posts about it on here.
Will problems...
Hello,
A while back I noticed that the temp gauge on my dash wasn't staying in the middle, it would occasionally drop down (sometimes to the bottom, sometimes to about a quarter) then suddenly shoot back up to the right temperature. A little while after this the engine warning light came on...
Hello,
This is all from memory and i did the job quite a while ago (whilst also doing a few other bits) on my 182, so someone please correct me if I've got something wrong!
Firstly I bought a tool almost identical to the one above, about a tenner from toolstation. definitely worth buying as...
cheers for the advice, just had a look and people on here seem to rate them a lot, don't seem loud on videos either.
I will have a proper look at mine soon and see if anything can be done to sort it, I don't think it has a centre section (?) at the moment so maybe that's an option to silence it...
Hi guys
Now on my second 182ff having written my old one off after 10 months of owning it :( (luckily someone got it back on the road) hopefully I won't ruin this one!
I'm after a bit of advice for my new car, its got a powerflow cat-back exhaust on it at the moment, but is a bit loud for my...
the pictures don't look too bad to be honest, heres the list of what i spotted from a quick look and insurance company said that its a write off with this damage:
left front wishbone bent right around, steering rod bent and damage to driveshaft, bodywork damage where wheel hit it, front bumper...
yer can't believe it, wanted that car for ages after driving one 5 years ago, then wrote it off after 10 months!
was on slip road joining the dual carrigeway, and as i came over the brow of a little hill saw that the road straight ahead (which i thought joined the dual carrigeway) had a gate...
yer that was me, managed to do it about 20 min after getting a new damper fitted, what a waste!
Ruined the car and lost NCB so cant afford insurance on another :(
not sure if theres a fuse, but pulling the plug out the front of the resistor pack stops it. only problem is if you need them it takes a couple of minutes to put back in.
I started a thread on the same issue a little while back, advice I was given worked perfectly.

all works again now, despite having major issues removing the old component and thinking I must have fried the other components in the circuit!
Cheers for the help, this site must have saved me several hundred pounds by now!
