    172 steering wheel cruise control

Hi all, Is it possible to fit the buttons from my melting but soon to be retrimmed cruise control steering wheel to a non cruise control wheel? Obviously I can dismantle the melting one to find out but if anyone here knows for sure...! Thanks for any help.

    Connectors (Door Loom)

I'd like to rewire the speaker cables to the doors(2004 RS172). Does anyone know what part number they are or even if they are available anywhere if Renaul cant/wont supply them? Thanks

    Whats this...?

Thanks for the replies. I figured it was some kind of guard. I'll have to get a nut from somewhere as I only have one. I've done it up as tight as I dare without overdoing it!

    Whats this...?

Just been out to check fluids etc on the 172FF. Noticed a loose component, so what is it? It is the large metal block at the front of the engine at the top. It sits immediately behind the top of the radiator attached to the engine block and looks like a heatsink. It seems to be fixed onto 2 or 3...

    Soaking wet seat!

The tab is as wide as the plug, about a third of its length. It seems to exert pressure on the four contacts below it. Presumably to prevent rattling of the contacts which may trigger the seatbelt tensioner. The plug has three wires going to it and matches the Haynes diagram for SRS. I'll see if...

    Soaking wet seat!

I've removed the fuse. I cant feel any movement by pushing the connector together. They are stuck fast. There is slight lateral movement which seems to suggest a catch but I cant see any. Releasing the red tab seems to do nothing. As it is bright outside now, I think I'll use a small heater...

    Soaking wet seat!

Just had a look at getting the seat out. There are 2 plugs, one grey one with yellow tab. This one opened quite easily. The other, with a large red tab will not budge. Anyone any ideas as to how this comes apart? I have lifted the red tab but it is still stuck. Without this one undone the seat...

    Soaking wet seat!

Following a mishap with a slightly open window and heavy rain at some point overnight I have a wet drivers seat (172FF). How easy is it to remove the lower cover and foam? Self explanatory once I go out to have a look once said rain has stopped? Anything I need to be aware of in case I get a...

    172 Top mounts

Mine are shot, how easy are they to change? Can it be done on the car or do the struts have to come off? Forgot to add - front ones.

    CV Joint

I've had the symptoms for 2 to 3 weeks. After swapping the wheels earlier I went out for fuel, no sign of a wobble, I had had all the wheels supposedly balanced last Saturday. but with the randomness of the wobble it may appear tomorrow on the way to work then the dealer. The cars done 42k ,04 172

    CV Joint

I have been suffering from random wobble and a feeling of skittishness on rough surfaces and a lack of precision (that cornering on rails feeling) in general but especially on bends. I had checked/adjusted balance of all wheels, 4 wheel tracking and shocks for leaks. I thought, tonight, I would...

    should this happen

My mk1 172 used to do this, be very careful over wet white lines. I was chucked over the other side of the road quicker than I bargained for whilst overtaking!! My current 04 172 does the same, I just put it down to torque steer as everything checks out.

    Should I change my tyres

I've found that I need to change the fronts when they get down to about 2mm above the wear indicators as the performance turns to sh**e. How much tread until you reach the wear indicators? I'm on Michelin PE2s.

Eibach Pros and std rubber spring seat

I remember the hassle involved in taking the top nut off when I last changed the rear shocks on my last 172. No matter how well the spanner fitted the 2 flats on the rod, it just wouldnt hold. So is this the same routine to fit the seats in mine? Or would it be easier to remove the lower bolt...

    ESP

Yes, I have that button. With it turned off the car feels more like the original 172 I had previously. I would have preferred the option as mentioned to turn it on only when needed rather than the way it is now. Guess I should have kept the other 172!!

Is it possible to turn this off permanently? Or rather invert the default position where it is on but can be over-ridden per trip. I would rather have it turned off with the option of turning it on per trip if it is wet.

Eibach Pros and std rubber spring seat

On my 2004 172 i have a set of Eibach Pro springs. They were already fitted to the car when I bought it. The rears appear to be sitting directly on the trailing arm. Shouldnt there be a rubber seat there? I havent noticed whether there are rubber seats at the top of these springs.

    Screen wash problem

GR172. Thanks for the heads up on which pump I had replaced. I'm afraid to admit I was being a bit of a mammary gland the day I changed them as I did actually change the wrong one! D'oh! All is working fine now. Thanks to you all for your help.

    Screen wash problem

Thanks for the reply. I replaced the pump the other week but cant remember seeing anything else inline. However, I dont see how these could be the cause. It isnt a problem of the water coming back down the tubes but one of the pump failing to direct the water correctly. As it is a new pump and...

    Screen wash problem

Strange one this, if I go to wash windscreen I get full power wash. If I then wash rear screen then go to wash windscreen again I get reduced flow to windscreen and to rear at the same time! It seems that if the car gets a jolt the windscreen gets full flow again until I use the rear...repeat ad...

    Rear quarter speakers

Thanks for the reply. I gave up on that idea as the speakers were 6.5 inch Denon subs and were too deep (They have a huge magnet). I finally managed to get hold of a pair of 5.25 inch Focal Subs instead. They work just fine, but need a bigger amp than the current Genesis SM60. Guess I'll have to...
