me neither to be honest, had resigned myself to having to get a new bonnet from a breakers, but chuffed that I now don't need to. A few hours well spent.
A full respray of the bonnet isn't an option, would be a few hundred (at a minimum I'm guessing). Worst comes to worst I would've just got one from a breakers.
As it's obviously not gone down to the paint (as no blue was coming up), so was just a surface tarnish, is there any reason to think...
Well then, I used a new pad and finished off the left side. Everything stayed white, not a bit of blue. Presumably all that means is all the mess was just tarnish on the surface of the lacquer and the finish should now stay?
Time for a roast dinner, then crack on with the other side :)
Hard to say, the pad I'm using is already blue. However the compound turns a light blue when I get the pad much wetter (however that may be because I used the same pad with the t-cut earlier, and it was blue t-cut). The compound stays white all throughout the rubbing down. I'll use a fresh...
Well t-cut was a waste of time, didn't touch the mess, although it did make it much smoother to touch and was no longer rough. So I thought i'd give the halfords rubbing compound a go that I used on my headlights on one of my other cars a while ago (they got all misty and yellowish etc...
That's what I was hoping wouldn't be the case as I'm about to sell the car. All very annoying. Will give T-cut a whirl in the morning just in case that does something, can't hurt if it needs a respray anyway.
Cheers
only have one more pic, but it's much the same. Just popped outside to get a couple more and it's been snowing / raining, so it's all wet and looks fine in the wet so can't tell what it looks like.
Small pockets of the bonnet have bits of shine (as opposed the whole thing appearing matt)...
As the title suggests. My bonnet is awful (bought it like that as I wasn't fussed as I was going to track the car, which I never ended up doing) with the paint generally a bit nasty (not sure if it's actually faded, or if there's just been all the crap build up on the surface over time). I'm...
your hat is safe, it was the battery. Plugged it all in, barely touched the key in the ignition and started like a dream and idled perfectly, pretty good considering it hasn't ticked over in at least 4 months. Strong little motor! Now just need to sell it!
Just tried a couple little tricks that were mentioned (press button while turning the key, leave in the ignition for 30 seconds, tapping my head while kissing the key and clicking my heels together three times) and nothing happened. Then I turned the headlights on! Dash lights turned off, then...
After doing a bit of digging I can see this is quite a common problem on here (I did check before I posted but wasn't sure what to search for to check the forum).
I tried jump-starting it from my other car initially as the battery was dead, was kind of odd as the jump cables twitched massively...
Another one - when I unlock the car the immobiliser light (is this the red light on the dash?) remains flashing, but does turn off when I put the key in the ignition.
Update - I just tried my spare key (wondering if it has some kind magical powers that the other key didn't have) and weirdly it does something different. When I turn the key there's lots of frantic clicking and flashing of the lights on the dash and the bit and bobs (as well as the general hum...
My 2003 172 Cup has been on my driveway for a good few months now (maybe 4?) and I stupidly haven't touched it or taken it for a drive or even let it tick over for a bit as I haven't got around to getting it sorted (interior all put back in) to sell it. It's all done now and the battery is...
I just bought some 15" 1.2's with 888's from Demon Tweeks - cost £870 delivered, balanced etc etc. The Pro Race 3's (which I also enquired about) was about a 4-6 week wait as they had to make them to order cause they didn't have any in stock in Anthracite, but they were a tiny bit cheaper, like...
Just went back and double checked the box, K-tec sent me the wrong one, they sent one for a clio 3, not my ph 2:
Well that was a waste of an hour plus causing damage to my car, not impressed.
Problem fitting boss kit from K-Tec
So i've bought a Sabelt steering wheel and boss kit from K-tec, went to fit it and it all went well, then went for a drive and noticed some tension on nearly full lock and the occasional click, or perhaps crack. When I got home I take the wheel off again and...
I'm looking into getting a pair of half-way decent race seats for my 172 cup that i'm going to be using as a track car, but i'm a little clueless about seats and harnesses etc.
Firstly i'll be looking at getting a roll cage at some point, but not just yet, so harnesses will have to wait a...
has anyone got an actual copy of the VOSA document? I had this problem with an MOT last weekend, came on here, found the document (only viewed it, didn't download it) and now i've come to print it out to take to the MOT testers, the link isn't working.
Cheers
Has anyone got a pic of some Pro Race 3's on a ph 2 172 cup by any chance? (mondial blue if I want to be specific ;)). Have done some searching and can't find any.
Cheers
Cheers - will look into a refurb then, unless a cheap pair of turinis pop up on here. Wheel isn't bent at all, just poor condition so it creates a poor seal with the tyre.
Cheers
So i've got a couple Turinis that are leaking air. When the new tyres were fitted the guy spotted that there was some bubbling on the inside of a couple of the rims, he did a bit of grinding to get the surface smooth enough to get a decent seal, and put some better sealant on than normal, but...
I wasn't suggesting that I was going to do anything against their purpose after what you guys have said what they are there for. Was just curious if other people had this problem of them being really loud and if they had done anything about it (like an easy fix of making another vent elsewhere...
hmmm, interesting. So has everyone who's stripped their car just left them in place and put up with the noise of them flapping? I was sat in my car after my drive just letting the car idle and it sounded like someone was clapping really fast behind me, it'll drive me insane.
What have...
As the title suggests, there's two of these things and i've no idea what they are - they're behind the panel on the inside of the boot:
Any ideas?
I've spent a few hours today stripping the rear of my car - all done apart from the passenger side rear - another half hour and it'll be gone...
I know it's not a Clio, but I just loved this engine so much it's worth showing. My S5 that I sold last year. I took these pics the day after I picked it up in 2008 - had about 40 miles on the clock at the time of the photo, everything so new and shiny. I miss it  Awesome engine.
