Thanks for the reply. I've had an injector go before and it was fine one min, dead the next. Still, I guess there's more than one way for something to fail. Somebody else also suggested an injector, so maybe I'll look into the other 3.
Sorry again to the op for the hi-jack :o
Sorry to jump in, but mine's got a big hesitation under light throttle when cold, up to 3k revs. It doesn't do it when it's warm, but it is down on power, and doesn't 'kick' at 5k. Plugs, leads, coilpack, and lambda sensor are all new, oe items.
It's not that bad. *Touch wood* nothing major has gone wrong with it yet, and I get a nice discount from Renault ;).
I've had performance Renault's for 14 years, so I know what they can be like! I got it to use as a cheap runaround as my Evo is a bit too much to use every day. The thing is...
I bought my 172 off a mate a year ago. He looked after it impeccably in the several years that his missus used it as a daily driver, and it was perfectly reliable. Since I've got it I might as well have moved into my Renault parts department
I got a new centre section for my ph1 172 a few weeks back from Renault. It cost me £120 + vat, with a discount. I think the full price was about £180 + vat.
The air-con in my 172 really isn't THAT effective. My Evo has me shivering in a matter of minutes. The Clio needs to be on full whack, and blowing straight at me, to feel cold. It's been re-gassed, which didn't really have an effect :-(
My mate who re-gassed it, said that it's down to...
Peco Big Bore 4's are what people used to put on their Nova SR's back in the mid 90's. They were nasty things!
I didn't even know Peco were still going tbh.
For all those rattling on about us having one day of summer in the uk - Air-con's not only good for cooling things down. It's also the quickest/easiest way to de-mist the windows in the winter!
I'd never get rid of my air-con, even though the Clio's really isn't that great compared to other cars.
If I drive my ph1 like Miss Daisy I can get about 32mpg to work and back (50mph dual carriage way with no traffic - 7 miles). On a long motorway run I can get it up to about 37-38mpg. I I feel it could do slightly better. The pre-cat lambda is new, so what else on the car can have an effect...
Thanks guys.
Hopefully it's something as simple as an upside down bearing. All the parts are new from Renault, so there shouldn't be a major problem (he says :D )
Has anybody got an exploded view of the front top mount assembly on a ph1 172 - Perhaps a screen grab from Dialogys?
I had the shocks, springs, wishbones, and top mounts replaced last week, and there's a horrible 'clonking' noise coming from the n/s when I'm turning at carpark speeds. Also...
Last year during the snow the OB set up camp near my work, and were pulling people over who hadn't removed the snow from their cars. They all got 3 points and a nice fine. Serves them right!
I found the cheapest place for the dephaser pulley to be Euro Car Care. That was 6 months ago though, so things may have changed:

Are you on about the road car, not the Evolution version? I've never seen an evolution version in green. Here's the list of the 20 that were built:

If that was a road car that sold for £230k - I dread to think what an Evo's worth these days...
