Ticked over 135,000 miles this weekend, driven daily.

    Interesting Inferno 182 at Players

What he said. It's from the Mk1 SEAT Leon Cupra R - which is about the only car which never seems to have one fitted because LCR owners inevitably fit the worst coilovers in pursuit of megalowz and the splitter just clips on so it's the first thing to get torn off on a kerb/pothole. At least if...

    Angry dashcam man

If you lived here you would; that's about 90 seconds from my house, there's far too many bellends riding them round at silly speeds barely in control...

    Angry dashcam man

I can't sleep, so watched some of his other videos. The short answer to your question is "yes, just like every other driver, since he's still a human even if it's a fairly poor example of one"

    So, what's this then?

I'm not too worried, the bay is far from pristine and I don't have the valve anyway. If the valve is supposed to be in the arch, I guess mine's been chopped short then to make it easier to block up (and more importantly, easier to see if it becomes unblocked)?

    So, what's this then?

I figured it'd be something like that, it's the same method (and probably the same size screw) I've always used to stop troublesome EGR valves from operating on my VAG TDIs. Couldn't see it being anything important as the engine runs perfectly well :)

    So, what's this then?

I can't find an engine diagram on Google, and I'm not a full CS member yet so I dunno if there's one on here. Happened to notice this while I was checking the oil...no idea what it is, but my experience of finding/putting screws into engine hoses on my previous cars tells me that it didn't leave...

My Clio 182 has turned cold-blooded...

Strange, I've had dead coolant sensors on VAG engines and they would warm up fine, but then when warm the gauge would be 90-0-90-0-90-0-90-0-90-0 every few seconds as the signal went from sensible to implausible and back again. In this case, it was definitely the thermostat, had it swapped over...

Cheers, will try and look into it when I've driven home again :)

My Clio 182 has turned cold-blooded...

Yeah, it seemed more like that than a temp sender to me. Will get it in to be looked at. Are there any easily reachable pipes that I can grab hold of to see if they're hot/cold to work out if it's definitely the thermostat?

My Clio 182 has turned cold-blooded...

Noticed over the last couple of days that the temp gauge hasn't reached midway on my drive to/from work, which seems unusual (I know it's a bit colder at the moment, but even so...). So today, I was up a little bit earlier and decided to take the motorway to work. After 5 minutes of motorway...

Windows 8.1 on retina Macbook Pro

No, hence the thread. There are tools to get Windows working on it (i.e. Boot Camp) but as I don't currently own an Apple product I don't know how good these are. Do they make it into a proper PC equivalent, or are they more like the "XP compatibility mode" in Windows 7 which turned out to be a...

Windows 8.1 on retina Macbook Pro

I can only find one range of Vaio Pro 13" models, all of which are limited to 4GB of RAM (so barely enough for now, let alone futureproofing) :( That may well be the case, like I said, I can't think of anything I couldn't currently do on OSX but that's because I've never bought an OSX machine...

Windows 8.1 on retina Macbook Pro

Nope, as I said, I'll look into it. I didn't bother yet in case it wasn't actually an option. That's a cheaper price than I've seen before for the Dell, and I'm sure the Apple prices have come down since I last looked at this so it looks like I've missed a recent price adjustment or whatever...

Windows 8.1 on retina Macbook Pro

Yeah, I know I'd need the right license etc. Let's assume that's not a problem (again, I'd have to look into the prices, it's still early days at the moment). I kind of figured that would be the response I got to the choice of OS but I'm not really bothered about the OS; for me the OS doesn't...

Windows 8.1 on retina Macbook Pro

I know it seems a bit perverse, but I've been looking around for a new laptop recently and I'm finding it hard to find something I "like". My current one is 13". Great size for carrying round, great weight, I want to keep those attributes. Terrible screen resolution (1366x768) though. So I've...

Anyone any experience with AP Coilovers

Again, not a Clio but I had them on a Mk1 Fabia vRS (the heavy 1.9 TDI one). They were "OK", but a bit crashy/harsh/whatever. The fronts were most of the way down and the rears were right down with the adjusters taken out (so maybe 8-10mm lower than they're specced for?). Personally I think my...

    Buying a 172 with only 1 key.

Off topic a bit, but is that true? Since the V5 doesn't prove ownership (even to the point it says on it that it doesn't prove ownership) then I would have liked to think the police would have got a bit more involved to at least try and trace the "correct" chain of ownership. If it could then be...

    Lauren's old clio

Agree, pretty much...I pay too much attention to other people's wheels due to having many VAGgy friends who care about that sort of stuff. I've never actually bought a wheel in my life :)

    Lauren's old clio

They're Autostrada Monzas, I believe - don't look good on that car in that colour, but they look quite nice when they're more subtle: If you ignore the "scene queen" ride height, anyway...

I need a new office phone setup (VoIP / Avaya IP?)

Software stuff is a good idea, but can be tricky to get working properly, particularly if you're relying on POTS lines coming into the business rather than a proper trunk. We have a Freeswitch-based solution at work with a "decent" Sangoma FXO card running 2 BT lines and 7 Polycom handsets and...

I need a new office phone setup (VoIP / Avaya IP?)

Two friends of mine have recently started Voicebooth to offer hosted VoIP services for businesses. They offer a free trial, and probably keener prices than the big players like Cisco, so could well be worth a look for you.

    Macbook Air

It won't - Tiger wouldn't even install on it if you had the DVD and wanted to. It'll be a mistake on the part of the seller (which isn't Amazon) and it'll come with Mavericks. Alternatively the seller is doing something dodgy with the OS DVDs that ship with them from Apple (do they even ship...

Blue V6 on private plate in Trowell

Seen it parked up a few times and saw you driving through Bilborough this morning on my way to work. If you could kindly stop putting your car in my eyeline that would be great, because I now want one instead of my 182 even though it's totally impractical and I can't afford it :D

    Scuttle panel question

Yeah, was hoping you weren't going to say that :p I figured if something was leaking down from above (like a blocked drain hole or something) then the tops of the carpets would be wet. I had a Fabia with leaky doors before this, and the top of the carpet was wet as that's where the water was...

    Scuttle panel question

Not trying to be a smartarse, but are you sure? Take a look at this image, and you can see the black "ring" around the left hand arm which is sitting on top of the scuttle panel and looks "right". On my car, that was underneath the scuttle panel and just moving around loosely so you could see...

    Scuttle panel question

So my 182 has been steaming up. A lot. Although I can't feel any wet carpets or anything. Tonight while I was home and it was light and dry, I figured I'd check out the pollen filter (which is on record as being changed when I bought the car). It's a bit misshapen cos of the poor design (who...
