£550 for 36K service

I was quoted £250 on the phone when I booked it in but got there this moring an the chap said that it'll be £550 quid due to the aux belt need changing which they charge labour on an takes 3 hrs to fit. I was gob smacked so i said "leave that out an i'll find somewhere cheaper to have this fitted". He said fine but said that if after 1000 after the service the belt goes your warranty wont count for the damage it will cause to your engine.

IT's true, needs changing at 36k, take it you got the quote from renault? Go take it to a local specialist.

I would have just got it done there and then. If you don't have the AUX belt changed when Renault say you should, your warranty will be void.

The thing is, my last 182 had it's 36k service but had no aux belt changed an was only £270 including new front brake pads must vary between garages

Yep, needs changing, can't tell you my price as I had 36k service, cambelt and aux all done together, so not sure of the breakdown. Others know the full details on here tho.

The 36k service on my 172 was over £1k, but it needed some other parts as well, 1 of which a steering wheel. Lucky I wasn't paying really.

if the aux belt snaps then 99% of the time it takes the camebelt with it, which means rebuild time, or in renault dealer terms, new engine! not the cheapest thing on the planet.

id rather pay a couple of hundred quid instead of a couple of grand when it snaps

sure it used to be 72k for the aux belt but so many were snapping not long after 36k so they changed it, not un comon for them to go only a couple of hundred miles over 36k actually!
