0-60 & 1/4 mile times

Hi all,

Just thought Il start a thread where everyone can put their 0-60 or a 1/4 mile times youve done, here are mine

172 mk2, mods - viper induction

Best 0-60: 6.4

Best 1/4mile:14.6

All times done by my gtech pro performance monitor..

14.6 is a VERY VERY good time on a 172 with just a viper!

Like, very good.. hehe.

Full Interior too etc..?!

Yeah, same as mate.. thats why I bought one myself.

As was pointed out on a thread a couple of weeks back - it works using physics so it cant really be THAT inaccurate anyways - it lets us compare before and after times for mods, and times with other owners of Gtech units.

Take it you got yours in the £40ish deal from USA?

1/4 mile best: 15.8

0-60:well autocar tested one with a 15.9 1/4 as 7.4 to 60 so i guess mine is about 7.4 as well.

Did 14.6 in my mk1 172 with no cheaty stripping out and only mod a decat, so it aint that far out.

Weve used a G-Tech Performance Meter in the past and were getting some great times when practicing for a 1/4 mile day, but then when we actually got there and did some runs, our times were slower and our terminal speeds were lower!

Better than the old speedo & stopwatch technique, but Id still take the results with a pinch of salt...

Just as a point of interest, Ive got an AP22, and over the 1/4 mile its accurate to within 0.02s and 0.6mph, and this was tested on the strip against the official timing equipment

Yeah thats fair enough Viceroy, if youve done repeated tests and it consistently comes out that close then youve calibrated your AP22 right and you can be pretty sure about the results. I know a lot of people with these meters do take their figures as gospel though, and I certainly wouldnt trust any internal measurement over a fixed external timing method like at the drag strip.

Results from a G-tech or AP22 are worthwhile if compared against themselves for tuning purposes over a number of runs though. They might not give you an absolute accurate figure but you can compare runs.

I think the other point people forget is that for the results to be accurate, you need to test on a flat surface which most roads are not, and even a small undulation in a road can lead to a few tenths of a second difference over the real results

Not to mention jerky gear changes which cause the car to rock a bit.
