05 plate 48k miles. £3600 good buy?

  Astra 1.8 SRI
New to these forums and looking to get a 182. There's one at a wee garage near me in facing blue 48k miles with fsh. Really clean car inside and out and drives great. No tax and a years mot. Will need front tyres soon as well. It's up at £3850 and he said he would knock £250 offit without me even bargaining so could probably get him down to £3500. Think on the face of it this is a good buy?

Seeing as i've not seen the car (and i'm assuming nobody else has) then it's pretty hard to say.

As long as you're happy that's all that matters.

Bear in mind the cambelt is a big and expensive job so make sure it's been done by renault/renault specialist recently. (Within the last 36 months ideally!)

£3500 taxed would be ok but they can be had a lot cheaper with a bit higher miles, as Daniel said as long as you're happy.

Thanks for the advice guys? Is it just cambelt you have to look out for? Think I'm just gonna leave that one. Would prefer a black one anyway

Cambelt and Auxiliary belt aswell mate, it drives the water pump.

The dephaser pulley which actuates the variable valve timing (i think) also needs changed, alot of the time they are missed and start rattling once up to temperature, all this work can cost around £500-700.

I would seriously advise you not to buy anything without proof receipts!

The other option is is to buy a 182 from a member with the work already done!
