1.2 16v oil leak - TECH HELP reqd.

  H22A7 Accord Type R

ok car went in on friday to have an oil seep looked at, and my electrical fault that was indicated, and caused mad revving. Reno in huddersfield proved to be ok for its service so i took it back there. Now this leak, which i have had before, just appears to seep from where the SUMP connects to the bottom of the engine? and trickle down the side of the sump and drip off at the sump plug? Simple.........yea? Well Reno Leeds have re-fitted and sealed the sump before, for the same problem, using that horrible foamy gasket crap that is sh*te obviously. Now where the excess foamy gasket crap can be seen, looking from the top of the engine, there is some dirty oil marks, where is seems to be seeping out of the join between sump and engine. Now for the confusing part.......

Renauly hudds want my car for 3 days, to put new Camshaft gaskets on etc etc as they think the leak is up top and running down and off the sump??? Car is in warranty still, but......now that i think about this, i aint convinced!! Im SURE its just the sump again!! simple re-fit and seal of the sump - job done! Am i being mis-lead here? do reno want my car for 3 days to do a simple job and obtain lots of money for doing a BIG warranty job they aint actually doing?? I dont want my engine in BITS for something it doesnt need!!! I cannot see at all where the oil is leaking from at the top of the engine!!!??? Once the sun comes out, im gettin the car up on the axle stands and looking for myself! and if i dis-agree, im ringing them to ask about this! the car is just gone 2yrs old, has had a simple sump leak before, which i think has returned, but they want to change camshaft gaskets etc etc and have top take off timing belt i think i was told???

Can anyone offer any advice on this matter? i think im being told some crap here, and i dont want my car being taken apart for no reason!!! Any advice appreciated, Rob :D

mate i wouldnt stress if its under warranty, its wen u gotta pay for it thats when the prob starts! if they gonna give u all them new parts then i would let em get on with it

Ive got a spot on kit for testing for oil leaks, it works very well indeed.
Sounds like sump again to me from what you have said, but could be front of engine camshaft/crankshaft seals but usually the are ok.
Its seems strange that this is a re-occuring faulf seems like the dealer have fixed the fault and not found the cause.
Get them to check breathers etc.
Are they using the correct sealer for the sump, reno have a selection of sealers for different jobs and if you dont know what your doing its easy to use the wrong stuff as there is such a choice.

Oh get it sorted while in warranty or face big bills later on

cheers Mike, im not sure what sealer they have used, all i know is that its some kind of orangy yellow, what looks like expanding foam. Crap n e way lol!

Hey dude, ive got a 1.2 8 valve and also have a leak from the sump where it joins the block, i got it on the ramp at work and discovered the sump bolts loose so i re-torqued them and a week later it happened again and the oil was back. it requires a new rubber gasket and problem solved
