1.2 16v shocks help and advice

hiya just got some new 60mm spring as my old ones went a bit crap,,,,anyway, i was looking to uprate my shocks and put some strut brases on,,, i cant afford coilover etc,,so ill have to settle for some gmax etc shocks how much should i payand will they make a difference
