is your alternator loud, not screetching but just generally loud when ticking over?:S

mine is. i wanna get a new one, but i'm wondering if will just happen on the replacement.:dapprove:

ive never heard the alternator on my car on tick over, either inside or outside!

if im honest i dont even know what one sounds like!

im probably just focusing on it now. its really starting to annoy me though.

it sounds a slightly higher pitch than the engine. imagine a clock ticking really fast.

how old is the car?
not very good with electrical stuff, but could it be 'wearing out' ( bad choice of words but can't think of the proper term!)

its a 2002. yeah, it will probably go just when i least expect it. (when i'm already late for work, no doubt)

It will be a tensioner not the alternator.
have u had the cambelt chnaged if so maybe it wasn't done right if not then having it done they chnage the tensioners and its rid of the problem.
