1.2 engine

Is it just me/ my car but are all the 1.2 16V engine SERIOUSLY noisey?

when it gets past 3K RPM is just so loud

anyone's elses like this

and is there anyway to reduce it?

Mine hardly ever sees past 3k, but yeah the engine noise is annoyingly loud.

they are quite a noisy engine. Fairly old technology, with adjustable tappets on rocker arms, and i doubt many have been checked from new.

I did the clearances on one last year when chasing an odd running issue, and afterwards, once the vacuum leak it turned out to be was fixed, the engine was lovely and quiet

Problem with that is you dont get any pulling away power (on slip roads etc)

are the other clio engines quieter? or roughly the same

my 1,2 is very noisy aswell. is it something that can be fixed or adjusted? the tappets or the followers? is it something that i could do myself?

Mines quite noisy tbh, I do like to rev it as well :rasp:
