1.4 16v de-cat

I have a clio 1.4 16v(2002). I was thinking of removing cat and puting a straight pipe in exaust service ( or whatever you call it). Is it gonna to be very loud?
And will i notice any performance improvement?
Has anybody put a de-cat on a new clio (1.4 16v or 1.6 16v), and
what does it sounds? I know that on older clios it is very loud, but what about new ones?

Or is it better to buy supersprint(or some other brand) de-cat?
 


Its a piece of pipe..get the cheapest. However the supersprint one is the only one i know of. You should get a better throttle response..power gains minimal.

If you totally remove ur cat u will loose some power rather than gaining!!!

The best solution is to change the cat with another one metalic.By doing this ull not have probs with the emitions...

I have a hand made metallic catalyst and I gained 4hp and 0,3kg of torgue and of course Ive 0 emitions...

The thing is that when u have a naturaly aspirated engine u need backpressure and by removing the cat u loose backpressure...Same thing applies to the other parts of the excaust system.When u totally free the excaust u loose power....

If u do it itll be little louder than before.
 


By having a different cat fitted, you must have a lower density one, there-by reducing backpressure and increasing velocity, otherwise a power gain wouldnt be seen at all.

N/A cars: As most of you know, the design of turbo exhaust systems runs counter to exhaust design for n/a vehicles. N/A cars utilize exhaust velocity (not backpressure) in the collector to aid in scavenging other cylinders during the blowdown process. It just so happens that to get the appropriate velocity, you have to squeeze down the diameter of the discharge of the collector (aka the exhaust), which also induces backpressure. The backpressure is an undesirable byproduct of the desire to have a certain degree of exhaust velocity. Go too big, and you lose velocity and its associated beneficial scavenging effect. Too small and the backpressure skyrockets, more than offsetting any gain made by scavenging. There is a happy medium here.
