1.4 auto..not so sporty!

My sister has got hold of a 1.4 auto 1994 from somebody who my dad works with. The car failed the MOT on the emmissions and is running pretty rough. The plugs and leads have been changed, a refurbed carb has been fitted and a new lamba sensor and it still runs rough when at idol although once over 2k revs it sounds ok. There is a slight judder at tick over and it sounds as if one of the cylindors isnt firing although all sparks are being produced.

Any other ideas please? Cheers

Have you checked compression? You may have a problem with the silly head or bottom end :dead: Is it knocking?

Try decoking the combustion chambers and double checking all ignition and fuel bits....

refurbed throttle body you mean?

could be burnt out valve, ring, spark plug

i know you said you get a spark out of each but one could be weak

Does it miss at all when you're driving above 2k?? Not just on the spot revving?
