1.416v and 1.6 16v direct swap?

just in the process of repairing my car..

quick question, iknow the only thing different between these 2 engines is the bottom end.

so if i was to swap my 1.4 for a 1.6 engine, would it be a direct swap, i.e. old comes out new in with same wiring and fitment?

or is it different for the 1.6? just fort id ask since i have access to a 2.6 engine, if its not and i have to do the bottom end swap for the 10bhp extra wont be worth it, 2 much hassle.

hope sum1 can help

so to get the extra 10bhp from the bottom end ill need to get the ecu mapped? or could i use the ecu my ecu and remap it?

can confirm its plug and play
near enough identical engine,
to make it a real doddle you will want the ecu uch and key from the donor and just plug them in to the existing looms

Both have the same bore of 79.5mm its just the 1.6 has 10mm longer stroke than the 1.4 to give it the extra 200cc. Now whether than 100% makes the heads combatible though?

I would have thought you could just plug the 1600 ECU into the 1400 loom mate....

Heads are the same.

The easy option is just to swop engines over forget looms etc the looms will fit either

I thought so. Just the stroke which is different.

As Edde says, if the 1.6 is in good condition just straight swap it.
